Removing Blood Stains from Office Chairs
Admin October 12, 2026
To remove blood stains from office chairs, choose the appropriate method based on the freshness of the stain and the chair material. Details are as follows:

Fresh Blood Stain Treatment
- Immediate Action: Use a clean tissue or cloth to press and absorb the excess blood on the surface as soon as possible. Avoid rubbing back and forth to prevent the stain from spreading.
- Rinsing with Running Cold Water: Turn the stained area upside down and rinse the back with a large amount of running cold water to wash away the unclotted blood. Alternatively, soak the stained area in cold water for 15 - 30 minutes to soften and dissolve the blood stain.
- Initial Cleaning: After soaking, apply a mild neutral detergent, underwear soap, or sulfur soap, and gently rub with your fingers or a soft cloth.
- Rinsing and Drying: Rinse thoroughly with cold water and use a dry towel to absorb the excess moisture, ensuring that the chair fabric is completely dry.
Dried/Old Blood Stain Treatment
- Extended Soaking: Soak in cold water for 30 minutes to 2 hours to fully soften the dried blood stain.
- Using Enzyme-Based Detergents: Apply a laundry detergent or underwear-specific detergent containing protease. Let it sit for 10 - 15 minutes to allow the enzymes to break down the proteins, and then gently brush in one direction with a soft-bristled brush.
- Oxidizing Agent Treatment (Use with Caution): Only suitable for white or light-colored, bleach-resistant fabrics. Dab on 3% medical hydrogen peroxide, let it sit for 5 - 15 minutes, and then rinse with cold water. Be sure to test on a hidden area of the chair first to prevent fading.
- Auxiliary Methods: Use cold saltwater (10 grams of salt per liter of water), diluted white vinegar, or a baking soda paste for local treatment to help break down the stains.
- Alcohol Decomposition Method: Spray alcohol and let it sit for 5 minutes to decompose the blood stain, then spray with a collar cleaner and scrub. Repeat the operation, wipe with a damp cloth, and finally apply a damp cloth soaked in color-safe bleach for half an hour, and then wipe off the residue.
Cleaning Tips for Different Material Office Chairs
- Leather Office Chairs: After absorbing the blood stain, use a slightly damp soft cloth dipped in a neutral detergent to gently wipe. For stubborn stains, use a small amount of medical alcohol or a special leather cleaner (test first). After cleaning, dry and apply a leather conditioner for maintenance.
- Mesh/Fabric Office Chairs: Immediately soak the stained area in cold water. Use soapy water or an enzyme-based detergent to gently scrub. For deep cleaning, vacuum first, then spray a diluted cleaner and let it sit to decompose the stains. Finally, suck up the solution and ensure it is completely dry.
