Refurbishment of Old Office Chairs

Admin October 16, 2026

Old office chairs can be refurbished in various ways to give them a new lease on life.

For chairs with sunken seats: Sunken seats are a common issue with office chairs, primarily caused by the loss of elasticity in the internal padding over long-term use. To address this, start by treating the sunken area. Latex can be used as a filling material; it offers good elasticity and support, effectively restoring the chair's comfort. Fill the sunken area evenly with latex, ensuring it is fully and smoothly filled. After filling, proceed with decorative treatment. Choose soft and aesthetically pleasing materials like fleece fabric. Cut the fabric to the appropriate size based on the chair's dimensions, cover the filled area, and secure it firmly with a staple gun or glue. Fleece fabric not only feels comfortable but also enhances the overall texture of the chair.

For chairs with severe damage: If the chair has issues like damage or uneven surfaces, the first step is to remove any nails from the stool. Use pliers or similar tools to pull out loose nails to prevent injury during subsequent operations. Next, use an angle grinder to smooth out any uneven areas. An angle grinder can quickly remove burrs and protrusions from the surface, making it flatter and laying the foundation for subsequent repairs and decorations. After grinding, secure the chair with screws. Choose screws of the appropriate length and specification based on the chair's structure, and re-fasten any loose parts to ensure the chair's stability. Finally, apply paint. Painting not only enhances the chair's appearance but also provides protection. First, apply a layer of black primer; black primer strengthens the adhesion of subsequent coats and makes the color more uniform. After the primer dries, apply gold spray paint. Gold spray paint adds elegance to the chair, giving it a more fashionable and high-end look. During the painting process, ensure even application to avoid issues like runs or color variations.
