Reclining Office Chair Switch
Admin October 13, 2026
The switch types and operation methods of reclining office chairs mainly include button-type, lever-type, knob-type, and wired-remote switches. Here are the specific operations and precautions:

I. Switch Types and Operation Methods
Button-type
- Position: Usually located on the side of the chair body, such as under the armrests or on both sides of the backrest.
- Operation: Press the button to allow the backrest to recline freely; some models require pressing the button again to lock it after adjusting to the desired angle. For example, pushing the button inward locks it (only height adjustment is possible), while pulling it outward unlocks it (the recline angle can be adjusted).
Lever-type
- Position: Under the seat, mostly made of metal.
- Operation: Pull the lever to put the backrest into an adjustable state; lean back to push the backrest backward; to reset, pull the lever again and push the backrest forward.
Knob-type
- Position: On the side of the chair body, some knobs are marked with 'Lock/Unlock'.
- Operation: Rotate to the 'Unlock' position to adjust the angle; to reset, rotate it in the opposite direction to the 'Lock' state.
Wired-remote Switch
- Troubleshooting: If the backrest cannot be adjusted, check if the wired remote has automatically closed. If it is disengaged, reattach the terminal; if the wired remote is broken, it needs to be replaced.
II. Precautions
Weight and Angle Limits
- Before adjusting, confirm the chair's weight-bearing capacity (usually โฅ100kg) to avoid structural damage from overloading.
- The maximum reclining angle is usually 150ยฐ-170ยฐ; exceeding this may affect stability.
Functional Compatibility
- Some low-priced chairs do not have an angle-locking function and require continuous body control of the backrest.
- Chairs with a 'rocking function' (where the backrest can automatically rebound) need to have this mode turned off before adjusting the angle; otherwise, it may interfere with the locking effect.
Maintenance and Care
- Regularly check if the unlocking devices (such as buttons, levers, knobs) are stuck; if necessary, apply lubricant (such as WD-40) to keep them smooth.
- Avoid violent operations to prevent the switch components from breaking or deforming.
Summary: The switch designs of reclining office chairs vary by model. Before operation, identify the switch type and follow the instructions in the manual. If a malfunction occurs, prioritize checking the weight-bearing capacity, functional mode, and unlocking device status; contact after-sales service for repairs if necessary.
