Rattan Woven Office Chair

Admin October 22, 2026

An office chair woven from rattan can combine practicality and comfort if it employs reasonable design and high-quality materials, but it needs to optimize details according to the needs of office scenarios.

In terms of material characteristics, rattan-woven furniture belongs to the branch of casual furniture. The raw materials are mainly natural rattan materials such as bamboo rattan, white rattan, and red rattan. Among them, Indonesian agate rattan is regarded as a top-grade material due to its tough texture and beautiful grain. Some modern processes use high-quality PE rattan. As shown in the case of the Kai Ruishi rocking chair, PE rattan has waterproof and sun-resistant properties, can adapt to changes in indoor and outdoor environments, and has a smooth surface without burrs, reducing friction damage to clothing. If an office chair uses similar materials, it can not only meet the wear-resistance requirements in daily use but also enhance long-sitting comfort through the breathability of natural rattan, avoiding the stuffy feeling that may occur with leather or fabric seats.

Structural stability is a core requirement for office chairs. High-quality rattan-woven office chairs usually adopt thickened steel pipe frames. For example, the steel pipe structure of the Kai Ruishi rocking chair achieves a smooth connection through welding technology, avoiding burrs that could scratch the skin. Such a design can provide sufficient load-bearing capacity to meet the usage needs of users with different body types. At the same time, the combination of the frame and the rattan-woven surface needs to be reinforced with processes (such as embedded fixation or anti-slip gaskets) to prevent the rattan from loosening after long-term use and ensure the overall structural stability of the seat.

Ergonomic design needs to be optimized for office scenarios. Referring to the backrest angle design of the Kai Ruishi rocking chair, the rattan-woven backrest of the office chair should conform to the natural curve of the human spine, providing key support to the area from the waist to the neck to reduce fatigue from long sitting. It is recommended that the seat depth be controlled between 40-45 centimeters. Combined with a moderately inclined front end of the seat, it can disperse the pressure on the buttocks. If adjustable armrests are equipped, it is necessary to ensure that the connection between the rattan-woven edge and the metal parts is smooth to avoid scratching the arms.

Limitations to note: Natural rattan is sensitive to humidity. It may crack if exposed to a dry environment for a long time and is prone to mold growth in a humid environment, requiring regular cleaning and maintenance. Although PE rattan has strong weather resistance, its breathability is slightly inferior to that of natural rattan, and it may be necessary to use it with a breathable seat cushion in summer. In addition, the elasticity of the rattan-woven surface is limited, and its support for users with a large body weight may be insufficient, which needs to be compensated for by thickening the seat cushion or optimizing the frame structure.
