Height Adjustment of Pulley Office Chair
Admin October 10, 2026
There are mainly two methods for adjusting the height of a pulley office chair, and you can choose the appropriate operation based on the specific design of the chair:

Method 1: Adjust the base height via a handle or knob
- Locate the adjustment device: First, find the handle or knob beneath the seat, usually directly below the cushion or at the edge of the seat bottom. Some chairs may have it designed on the side. This device is directly connected to the gas lift or mechanical lifting mechanism and is the core component for height adjustment.
- Perform the adjustment action: If it is a handle, hold it with your hand and pull it upwards; if it is a knob, turn it counterclockwise. Keep your body stable during operation to avoid chair wobbling due to uneven force.
- Adjust the height and secure it: As you pull or rotate, the front end of the chair will gradually lift off the ground. At this point, you can move the adjustment lever up or down to the desired height according to your needs. After that, release the handle or stop rotating, and the backrest will automatically sink, returning the seat to a horizontal position and locking the height.
Precautions: Ensure your feet are off the ground during adjustment to avoid interference from ground friction; if the chair is equipped with a gas lift, avoid pressing it quickly or applying excessive force to prevent damage to the gas lift.
Method 2: Use body weight to assist in adjustment (applicable to chairs with gas lifts)
- Gently lift your body: After sitting on the chair, use your leg strength to gently push your body upwards, raising the entire chair by about 5-10 centimeters. At this point, the gas lift will enter an adjustable state, and the chair height can change with your body movement.
- Determine the appropriate height: When your feet can touch the ground steadily and your thighs are parallel to the ground (with your knees bent at a 90-degree angle), stop applying force. At this point, the gas lift will automatically lock, and the chair height adjustment is complete.
Advantages: This method does not require manual operation of the adjustment device, is suitable for scenarios where height precision is not highly required, and allows you to intuitively judge whether the height conforms to ergonomics.
Additional notes:
- If the height adjustment of the chair fails, it may be due to gas lift leakage or a stuck adjustment device, and you need to contact after-sales service for repair.
- After long-term use, the adjustment device may become difficult to operate due to wear and tear. You can regularly clean it and apply a small amount of lubricating oil for maintenance.
- When adjusting the height, it is recommended to consider the height of the office desk to ensure that your arms hang naturally with your elbows bent at a 90-degree angle, reducing shoulder and neck fatigue.
