Disassembly of Pulley Office Chairs

Admin October 14, 2026

The disassembly of pulley office chairs requires selecting the appropriate method based on the type of pulley. The specific steps are as follows:

I. Disassembly of Snap-Ring Pulleys

  1. Flip the Chair: Lay the chair down or completely flip it over so that the chair legs are facing upwards, ensuring sufficient and stable operating space.
  2. Separate the Wheel from the Snap Ring:
    • Hold the wheel with your hand, press it gently downwards while pulling it outwards, using the deformation of the snap ring to make it detach from the metal sleeve of the chair leg.
    • If it is difficult to operate with your bare hands, you can insert the tip of a flat-head screwdriver or an old key into the gap on the side of the wheel and gently press against the inner side of the snap ring to assist in loosening it.
    • You can also try pulling it outwards in the opposite direction of the force core (the central axis of the wheel), but be sure to apply even force to avoid damaging the shaft.

II. Disassembly of Threaded Pulleys

  1. Rotate and Unscrew: Simply rotate the wheel counterclockwise to gradually unscrew it from the threaded hole in the base of the chair leg.
  2. Dealing with Tight Situations:
    • If the wheel is stuck due to rust or dirt, you can use a 4mm wrench to gently turn the shaft of the wheel, gradually applying force to avoid damaging the threads through violent disassembly.
    • If the wrench is ineffective, you can use sandpaper to clean the interface between the shaft and the wheel to remove rust or dirt; or spray a small amount of alcohol, WD-40, or other cleaning agents, and try rotating it again after lubrication.

III. Handling Special Situations

  1. Wheels Fixed by Plastic Grooves: If the wheel is stuck in the chair leg by a plastic groove, you can carefully pry off the plastic groove with scissors or pliers (be careful not to pull out the inner plastic sleeve), and then pull out the small iron rod in the center of the wheel.
  2. Wheels with Plastic Sleeves: Similarly, first use scissors or pliers to deal with the fixed part of the plastic sleeve, and then disassemble the wheel to avoid direct pulling that may cause the plastic sleeve to break and remain.

IV. Precautions

  1. Safety Regulations: Before disassembly, make sure to master the correct steps to avoid damaging components or getting injured due to improper operation; if the pneumatic rod has problems such as failure to lift or lower, or abnormal air leakage sounds, stop the disassembly immediately and contact a professional for maintenance.
  2. Environmental Requirements: The operating environment should be flat and open, away from fire sources and sharp objects to prevent the chair from tipping over or tools from slipping and causing accidents.
  3. Component Protection: During the disassembly process, pay attention to protecting key parts such as the metal sleeves and threaded holes of the chair legs to avoid scratches or deformation that may affect subsequent installation.
