Disassembly of Pulley Office Chair

Admin October 09, 2026

The disassembly of a pulley office chair mainly involves the removal and installation of the wheels, and it is necessary to select the corresponding method according to the interface type and strictly comply with safety regulations.

I. Tool Preparation and Safety Precautions

  1. Tool Preparation
    • Snap-ring type pulleys can usually be disassembled by hand. It is recommended to have a flat-head screwdriver and needle-nose pliers on hand to assist in prying. If the pulley is rusted, a lubricant (such as WD-40) will be required.
    • Prepare a cloth to clean up dust and wear gloves to prevent scratches.
  2. Safety Precautions
    • Do not disassemble the gas cylinder: The gas cylinder is filled with high-pressure nitrogen gas. Striking, prying hard, or heating it may cause gas leakage or cylinder explosion. Only flip the chair over to operate on the pulley part.
    • Operating environment: Choose a flat and open area, clear the items on the chair, and keep it away from fire sources and sharp objects.
    • Fault handling: If the gas cylinder has problems such as failure to lift or lower, or air leakage and abnormal noises, contact a professional for inspection and repair. Do not operate it by yourself.

II. Disassembly Steps (Classified by Interface Type)

  1. Snap-ring type pulley
    • Observe the interface: There is an elastic metal snap ring at the top of the wheel's insertion rod.
    • Operating method:
      • By hand: Hold the wheel, press it vertically and lightly, and at the same time, pull it outward to take advantage of the deformation of the snap ring to release it.
      • With auxiliary tools: If it is difficult to do by hand, use a flat-head screwdriver or the tip of an old key to press against the inner side of the snap ring from the side gap of the wheel to assist in loosening it.
  2. Threaded pulley
    • Observe the interface: The wheel has a rotatable metal screw rod.
    • Operating method:
      • Rotate the wheel counterclockwise directly to unscrew it from the threaded hole of the chair leg.
      • If it is stuck due to rust: Spray a small amount of lubricant, wait for it to penetrate, and then use needle-nose pliers to hold the root of the wheel shaft, shake it left and right, and try to pull it outward; or use large scissors/needle-nose pliers to pry up and down at the interface while rotating it counterclockwise.
  3. Other special cases
    • Plastic slot snap fastener: If the wheel is fixed by a plastic slot, use scissors or pliers to remove the plastic snap fastener (avoid pulling out the plastic sleeve) and take out the small iron rod of the wheel.
    • Screw fixation: If the wheel is of a combined type, unscrew the screws first and then disassemble it; if the wheel is split, find the screws and unscrew them with a screwdriver.

III. Subsequent Cleaning

After disassembly, use a cloth to clean the dust and debris in the installation holes of the chair legs to ensure good contact for subsequent installation or replacement of the pulleys.
