Drawing Office Chairs with Photoshop

Admin October 13, 2026

When using Photoshop software to draw office chairs, you can refer to the following three methods:

Method 1: Drawing a Chair with a Backrest

  1. Preparation: Open Photoshop software and set up a white canvas by going to 'File > New'.
  2. Drawing the Main Structure:
    • Seat: Select the Ellipse Tool (shortcut key U), hold down the Shift key to draw a perfect circle or an ellipse, and double-click the layer to fill it with a color (e.g., red).
    • Chair Legs: Use the Line Tool or Rectangle Tool to adjust to a slender shape and draw four vertical lines below the seat. Thicken the lines using layer styles or the Brush Tool (recommended line width: 3-5 pixels).
  3. Building the Backrest Frame:
    • Draw two parallel thickened lines above the seat as horizontal support bars, and connect a horizontal line at the top to form a frame.
    • Use the Rectangle Tool to draw a rectangle covering the frame, fill it with the same color as the seat, and adjust the layer order (right-click the layer > Arrange > Send to Back).
  4. Detail Optimization:
    • Select all line layers and use 'Filter > Blur > Motion Blur' (angle 0, distance 1-2 pixels) to eliminate jagged edges.
    • Double-click the seat or backrest layer and check 'Drop Shadow' in the layer styles (angle 120ยฐ, distance 5 pixels, size 3 pixels) to enhance the three-dimensional effect.

Method 2: Drawing a Black Minimalist Chair

  1. New Canvas: Open Photoshop and create a white rectangular canvas.
  2. Drawing the Seat: Use the Ellipse Tool to draw an ellipse and fill it with black as the seat.
  3. Adding Chair Legs: Draw three vertical lines below the ellipse as chair legs.
  4. Completing the Support Structure:
    • Draw a line near each chair leg to simulate support bars.
    • Draw three short lines at the bottom of adjacent support bars to simulate crossbars.

Method 3: Converting an Original Image to a Sketch Effect

  1. Desaturation: Open the original image of an office chair and select 'Image > Adjustments > Desaturate' or press the shortcut Ctrl+Shift+U.
  2. Inversion and Blending Mode:
    • Press Ctrl+J to duplicate the layer and select 'Image > Adjustments > Invert' or press Ctrl+I.
    • Change the blending mode of the duplicated layer to 'Color Dodge', and the canvas will appear completely white.
  3. Applying the Minimum Filter: Select 'Filter > Other > Minimum', set the radius to 1 pixel, and save the image after adjustment.

Notes:

  • Method 1 is suitable for drawing complex chairs with backrests, and attention should be paid to layer order and shadow effects.
  • Method 2 focuses on a minimalist style, and visual balance can be enhanced by adjusting line thickness.
  • Method 3 requires an existing image and simulates a hand-drawn texture through filters, suitable for quickly generating design sketches.
