Production Process of Office Chairs
The production process of office chairs mainly includes seven steps: raw material preparation, design and planning, cutting and shaping, seat frame production, leather and foam processing, sewing and assembly, and quality inspection.

Raw material preparation is the foundation of production, mainly involving materials such as metal, plastic, foam, and fabric. Metal is used to make the chair frame, and steel with high strength and good toughness needs to be selected. Plastic is used for components like chair wheels and armrests. Foam provides comfortable support for the seat, and fabric serves as the covering material for the seat surface.
In the design and planning stage, office chair models that conform to users' sitting habits and aesthetic requirements should be designed according to ergonomic principles and market demand.
During the cutting and shaping process, for metal materials, they need to be cut according to the design dimensions, and then processed into the shape of the chair frame through processes such as stamping and bending. Workers use hydraulic-powered machines to bend No. 14 steel pipes into shape, make the frame for the bottom cushion, connect the ends, and weld steel bars in the middle. These steel bars will support the mechanism for adjusting the seat position. For plastic components, injection molding is used.
When producing the seat frame, S-shaped steel springs are hung from the front to the back of the seat frame. These wave springs ultimately provide an elastic mesh in the seat. Horizontal bars are placed and clamped onto the springs to add extra stability and support. At the same time, the back frame of the chair is constructed, including the spine, armrest attachments, and other components, and burrs and other rough parts on the steel are smoothed out.
In terms of leather and foam processing, the leather should be smoothed and evenly placed on the cutting table. Patterns are cut according to cardboard templates, avoiding natural flaws on the leather. When cutting the foam pads for the back of the chair, the density of the seat foam varies. The seat cushion part should use harder foam to maintain its shape, while the backrest part should choose softer foam to improve comfort.
During the sewing and assembly stage, first, the leather and foam are sewn together. Folds are pinched at special positions as needed to form decorative thread patterns. The seat back, side panels, and contour covers are sewn separately. Then, a layer of cardboard is added to the backrest frame, followed by a layer of foam, and finally covered with a leather cover. The sliding plate assembly is installed to allow for forward and backward adjustment of the seat cushion position. The hydraulic cylinder is installed to adjust the height and enable 360-degree rotation of the chair. The hydraulic cylinder is connected to an aluminum base, and casters are inserted. Finally, a headrest and armrests are installed on the backrest.
Quality inspection involves strict testing of the office chair's structural strength, stability, comfort, and other aspects. Only products that pass the inspection can enter the market.
