Pregnant Women Adjust Office Chairs

Admin October 10, 2026

Pregnant women should adjust office chairs scientifically according to their own needs and the type of chair, with the core principle being to ensure physical comfort, reduce lumbar spine pressure, and ensure safety.

I. Adjustment Points for Regular Office Chairs

  1. Seat Height: Adjust according to height and physical changes during pregnancy to ensure that when sitting, both feet are naturally flat on the ground, knees are level with the hip joints, and thighs are parallel to the ground. If the chair cannot be adjusted in height, use a footrest or height-increasing pad to assist, avoiding leg suspension or excessive bending that can lead to poor blood circulation.
  2. Backrest Angle: The backrest should provide support for the lower back, with the angle recommended to be adjusted between 100ยฐ and 110ยฐ. This range can disperse lumbar spine pressure and reduce fatigue from prolonged sitting. If the chair's backrest is fixed, place a cushion or rolled-up towel behind the lower back to fill the gap between the lower back and the backrest.
  3. Semi-Reclined Position: During pregnancy, the chair can be briefly adjusted to a semi-reclined position between 110ยฐ and 130ยฐ to further reduce lumbar spine burden. However, avoid lying completely flat to prevent acid reflux or breathing difficulties, and ensure the body's center of gravity is stable to prevent sliding.

II. Adjustment Points for Multi-Functional Pregnant Women's Chairs

  1. Backrest Angle: Adjust according to personal needs, but ensure the support frame is stable without wobbling. Avoid large-scale operations during adjustment to prevent the chair from becoming unstable or retracting. It is recommended to make small adjustments in stages and confirm stability after each adjustment before continuing.
  2. Neck Support Angle: The adjustable range is between 90ยฐ and 180ยฐ, and should be switched according to neck comfort. For example, 90ยฐ is suitable for desk work, and 180ยฐ is suitable for short rests. Adjust gently by pushing and pulling to avoid damaging the support frame due to excessive force.
  3. Leg Support Angle: Before adjustment, push inward and then pull outward to return to the original angle before readjusting. This design prevents the support frame from getting stuck or suddenly retracting, ensuring safety during use. The leg support angle should match the seat height to avoid excessive leg elevation or drooping.

III. General Safety Precautions

  1. Maintain body balance during adjustment to avoid falling due to chair movement or angle changes.
  2. Regularly check for loose parts (such as screws and support frames) on the chair, especially the adjustment mechanisms of multi-functional pregnant women's chairs.
  3. After prolonged sitting, get up and move around, combining walking or simple stretching to relieve muscle tension and avoid prolonged single postures.

By scientifically adjusting office chairs, pregnant women can effectively reduce lumbar spine pressure, improve work comfort, and lower the risk of physical discomfort during pregnancy.
