Pregnancy Office Chair Exercises
During pregnancy, some simple exercises can be done on an office chair to relieve discomfort, and attention should also be paid to the selection and usage habits of the office chair.

Simple Exercises on an Office Chair
- Seated Stretch: Sit up straight, move your hips slightly forward, and do not lean against the chair back. Place your right hand on the chair, reach your left hand up to your right ear, then bring your left ear close to your left shoulder, stretching from the side of your neck to the side of your body. Place your left hand on your left thigh and slowly extend your right hand backward, adjusting the degree of extension according to your physical condition. Maintain your breathing, pause, and then slowly retract. This exercise can relieve tension in the neck and side of the body.
- Chair-Assisted Leg Exercise: Gently hold the back of the chair with both hands to ensure stability. Slowly raise your arms and shift your body weight to your left foot. Try to bring your right heel close to your buttocks and hold for 20 seconds. Repeat the exercise with the other foot, doing it a total of 5 times. This exercise helps to move the leg joints and reduce leg fatigue.
- Seated Back Stretch: Sit straight on the chair, tuck in your abdomen and chest, raise both hands upward with palms facing up, and stretch your body as much as possible upward. Then, place your hands back on your chest and push them forward to fully stretch your lower back and back. This exercise can effectively relax the back muscles and relieve back pain during pregnancy.
Selection of an Office Chair
During pregnancy, avoid sitting on swivel chairs with casters as they are less stable and prone to accidents when getting up or moving. Choose an ergonomic chair with a safe and stable base and gas lift, an adjustable lumbar support, and sturdy armrests with adjustable height. An adjustable lumbar support can better fit the curve of your lower back, providing effective support and reducing lower back pressure. Sturdy and height-adjustable armrests can provide support for your arms while working, reducing shoulder and arm fatigue.
Precautions While Working
Avoid sitting in the same position for a long time. Get up and move around every once in a while to promote blood circulation. The height of the seat should be appropriate so that your feet can rest flat on the ground and your thighs are parallel to the ground, avoiding discomfort caused by a seat that is too high or too low. At the same time, avoid excessive bending to pick up objects. Place frequently used items within easy reach to reduce bending actions and lower the risk of lower back injury.
