Practical Office Chair Materials

Admin October 10, 2026

Common materials for practical office chairs include fabrics such as mesh, leather, velvet, linen-velvet blend, and artificial leather (PU leather), as well as component materials like wood panels, sponge, metal bases, nylon chair legs, and PA material chair wheels. The following provides an introduction from the perspectives of fabric and component materials:

Fabric Materials

  • Mesh: Mesh is one of the commonly used fabrics for office chairs, with its biggest advantage being good breathability. During long-term use of an office chair, the human body continuously generates heat. The mesh structure of the fabric allows air to circulate freely, effectively reducing the feeling of stuffiness and keeping the body dry and comfortable, making it especially suitable for summer or people who work at a desk for extended periods.
  • Leather: Office chairs made of leather material have the advantages of being wear-resistant and easy to clean. Its smooth surface does not easily attract dust and stains, and daily cleaning only requires a gentle wipe with a damp cloth. Moreover, leather has a high-end texture, adding a sense of solemnity and luxury to the office environment, so it is often used in high-end office settings.
  • Velvet: Velvet fabric gives people a soft and comfortable feeling, with a delicate touch that makes users feel warm and relaxed when using the office chair. However, velvet is relatively prone to attracting dust, and cleaning requires more care.
  • Linen-velvet blend: The linen-velvet blend combines the characteristics of linen and velvet, having both certain breathability and the soft comfort of velvet. It is also a commonly used fabric in office chair manufacturing.
  • Artificial leather (PU leather): Artificial leather (PU leather) has a similar appearance and feel to genuine leather but is relatively lower in price. It also has the characteristic of being easy to clean and has good wear resistance, meeting the needs of daily office use.

Component Materials

  • Wood panel: In office chairs, wood panels are often used for the internal support structures of the backrest or seat cushion, providing stable support for the chair and ensuring the correct sitting posture of the user.
  • Sponge: Sponge is the main filling material for the seat cushion and backrest of office chairs. Its softness and elasticity directly affect the comfort level of the user. High-quality sponge can provide appropriate support according to the pressure distribution of the human body, relieving body fatigue.
  • Metal base: The metal base is an important component of an office chair, connecting the seat cushion and the chair legs and bearing the weight of the human body. Metal materials have the characteristics of high strength and good stability, ensuring the safety and durability of the office chair during use.
  • Nylon chair legs: Nylon chair legs have the advantages of being lightweight, having high strength, and good wear resistance. They can withstand relatively large pressure and are not easily damaged. At the same time, nylon material also has a certain degree of elasticity, which can act as a buffer when moving the office chair, reducing noise.
  • PA material chair wheels: PA material chair wheels have good wear resistance and smoothness, allowing them to move easily on different floors without scratching the ground.
