Pole Office Chair Adjustment

Admin October 16, 2026

The adjustment methods for office chairs vary depending on their types. Here are the common types and their adjustment methods:

Pneumatic office chairs: There are usually 1-2 control levers under the seat. When no one is sitting, lifting the lever upwards raises the seat; when someone is sitting, lifting it lowers the seat. If it has a dual-lever design, the other lever is used to adjust the backrest angle. You can try operating it before adjustment to confirm its function.

Screw-type office chairs: Adjust the height through the knob under the seat. Rotating the knob clockwise lowers the chair, while rotating it counterclockwise raises it. When adjusting, maintain body balance to avoid losing stability due to rotation.

Manually adjustable office chairs: There are fixed screws under the backrest. Use a tool (such as a wrench) to loosen the screws, adjust the seat to the appropriate height, and then tighten the screws to secure it. This method is similar to adjusting the height of a bicycle saddle. After adjustment, ensure the screws are fully tightened to prevent loosening during use.

Ergonomic chairs: The height adjustment is achieved through the control lever under the seat, with single-lever and dual-lever designs. For a single-lever design, pull it upwards to unlock the height. For a dual-lever design, operate both control levers simultaneously. When adjusting, slightly lift your body to avoid forcing the adjustment while sitting directly on the chair, which could damage the pneumatic rod or mechanical structure.

Adjustment precautions:

  1. Height matching: Adjust according to the height of the desk and your own height. After sitting, your eyes should be level with the computer screen to avoid cervical fatigue caused by prolonged looking up or down.
  2. Proper sitting posture: After adjustment, two perpendicular conditions should be met: first, when your feet are flat on the ground, your thighs and calves should be perpendicular, and the front edge of the seat should not press on the lower surface of your thighs; second, when your arms hang naturally, your upper arms and forearms should be perpendicular, and the desk height should just touch the lower surface of your forearms.
  3. Step-by-step adjustment: Stand and adjust the seat to be level with the back of your knees as a reference. After sitting down, ensure your thighs are parallel to the ground and your feet are naturally on the ground. For long-term use, you can appropriately raise it by 1-2 cm to relieve leg pressure, with each adjustment amplitude of about 2 cm.
  4. Safety inspection: Regularly check if the pneumatic rod slowly sinks. Avoid adjusting the chair to the highest or lowest extreme positions. Keep a 5 cm margin to extend the lifespan of the parts. If there are abnormal sounds or jamming during adjustment, stop using it immediately and contact after-sales service.
  5. Cleaning and maintenance: When cleaning, avoid liquid from seeping into the adjustment mechanism. After wiping with a damp cloth, keep it dry to prevent metal parts from rusting or the internal corrosion of the pneumatic rod.
