Report on Poisonous Office Chairs

Admin October 14, 2026

There are reports and related incidents regarding poisonous office chairs.

I. Incident of the Internet-famous 'Liu Liu Stool' A netizen posted that an internet-famous 'Liu Liu Stool' priced at 89.9 yuan had serious quality issues, such as the use of moldy wood and recycled sponge. The product was manufactured by Bazhou Fupeng Furniture Co., Ltd. and sold in top live-streaming rooms like Jiaogepengyou and Dongfangzhenxuan. The seller, 'Holiday Childhood Yunqi Furniture Store', issued a statement claiming that the product had passed third-party testing by Huayi Testing. However, Huayi Testing later denied issuing the report, stating that it was forged and that all information did not match the company's true details. This incident reveals that some merchants may cover up product quality issues by forging test reports, seriously infringing on consumer rights.

II. Results of the State Administration for Market Regulation's Inspection The latest national supervision and inspection results for office chairs released by the State Administration for Market Regulation showed that out of 90 batches of products from 90 enterprises in 11 provinces and cities, 21 batches were unqualified, with a non-compliance rate of 23.3%. The unqualified office chairs had serious issues such as excessive formaldehyde levels, indicating that a significant portion of office chairs on the market still pose safety risks and may threaten consumer health.

III. Incident of Ms. He from Shenzhen Purchasing Swivel Chairs Ms. He from Shenzhen purchased two swivel chairs from an online store and found that they emitted a pungent odor and caused dizziness after prolonged use. The test report provided by the merchant indicated that the formaldehyde emission level was 'qualified'. However, an investigation by the Shenzhen Consumer Council revealed that the test report provided by the merchant contradicted the conclusion of the test report with the same number displayed on the official website of the testing center, which clearly stated that the formaldehyde emission level was 'unqualified'. This indicates that the merchant engaged in illegal tampering with test reports, further exacerbating consumer concerns about the quality of office chairs.
