PFM Office Chair Testing
PFM office chair testing mainly includes backrest push-pull fatigue testing, durability testing, comfort testing, and other specialized tests, aiming to evaluate structural strength, durability, and user experience.

1. Backrest Push-Pull Fatigue Testing
This test simulates the push-pull actions of the human back on the chair backrest using mechanical devices, repeating thousands of times to observe whether the backrest structure becomes loose, deformed, or damaged. The testing process includes securing the office chair, installing a simulated pressure device, setting the push-pull frequency and force, and recording the state changes of key parts. The core significance lies in evaluating the stability and safety of the backrest during long-term use. For example, lightweight designs need to be validated for durability in conjunction with this test to avoid sacrificing performance for weight reduction.
2. Durability Testing
Comprehensive testing is conducted using fully automatic testing equipment (such as office chair durability testers), supporting various items such as pressure, rotation, backrest durability, and impact, in compliance with international standards such as BIFMA X5.1 and BS EN. Specific equipment includes:
- Chair Backrest Durability Tester: Tests the durability of the recline mechanism (TILT) and backrest fatigue durability (BACK DURABILITY), controlling the loading force through precision pressure regulators to ensure an output force repeatability accuracy within 2%.
- Chair Rotation Durability Tester: Simulates real-world usage conditions to test the rotational durability of the chair base, equipped with an automatic centering clamping structure and RPM speed display function.
3. Comfort Testing
A multi-functional integrated comfort tester simulates long-term usage conditions to evaluate key indicators such as support, breathability, and adjustability flexibility:
- Back Push Testing: Uses a human model and pressure sensors to test the feedback force of the backrest at different angles (15ยฐ, 30ยฐ, 45ยฐ), generating a pressure-angle curve to analyze design rationality.
- Material Performance Testing: Tests the abrasion resistance of the fabric, the resilience of the foam, and the strength of plastic parts, and simulates high-temperature environments to test heat dissipation performance.
- Stability Testing: Applies forces in different directions to test the chair's resistance to tipping.
4. Other Specialized Tests
- Chair Five-Star Base Pressure Resistance Testing: Evaluates the load-bearing capacity of the chair base under static or dynamic loads.
- Chair Caster Durability Testing: Simulates long-term movement scenarios to test the abrasion resistance and smoothness of the casters.
Testing Significance: Systematic testing can identify design flaws, ensuring that office chairs meet standards in terms of structural strength, comfort, and durability, extending product lifespan and enhancing user experience.
