Peace Office Chair Renovation
Admin October 11, 2026
The renovation of the Peace office chair can be carried out according to the following steps, and appropriate methods should be selected according to the material and degree of damage:

I. Basic Cleaning and Disassembly
- Thorough Cleaning: Use a screwdriver to remove the seat, backrest, and armrests. Wipe the metal or plastic frame with a soft cloth dipped in a neutral detergent. Stubborn stains can be treated with alcohol wipes. For mesh chair surfaces, rinse them with a showerhead and let them dry naturally, avoiding direct sunlight to prevent deformation.
- Disassembly of Old Fabric and Accessories: If the chair surface fabric needs to be replaced, carefully peel off the old fabric using tailor's scissors or specialized tools, and use a staple remover to clean up any remaining staples. Remove soft cushions, backrests, and other parts, retaining reusable screws, buckles, and other accessories, and mark their positions for subsequent installation.
II. Structural Inspection and Repair
- Frame Stability Treatment: For wooden or metal frames, check if the chair legs are loose or if the connections are cracked. Wooden frames can be reinforced with woodworking glue for cracks, while metal frames can be repaired using metal corner braces or professional reinforcement parts. If the gas lift or swivel base is damaged, it is advisable to consult professional repair personnel first to avoid safety hazards from self-disassembly.
- Surface Pre-treatment: Sand the frame surface with 240-grit sandpaper to remove burrs, old paint layers, or rust, ensuring a smooth and even surface. Apply anti-rust paint to areas where the metal frame has lost paint, and use a hot air gun to lightly heat and fade scratches on plastic parts.
III. Surface Renovation and Replacement
- Painting Treatment: Choose an environmentally friendly wood paint (such as water-based paint or Sanqing paint) and apply it in 2-3 thin coats using a roller or brush, with an interval of 2-3 hours between each coat to ensure an even paint layer without runs. For metal frames, anti-rust primer can be used in combination with a topcoat to enhance corrosion resistance.
- Replacement of Chair Surface Fabric: Select durable fabric (such as tech fabric or canvas). When cutting, make the fabric about 5 centimeters larger than the frame size to leave a fixing edge. Cover the frame with the fabric, pull it tight from the center to the edges, and fix it every 3 centimeters with a pneumatic staple gun or manual U-shaped staples to ensure the fabric is flat and wrinkle-free.
- Replacement of Wearable Parts: Check the wheels, gas lift, and other parts. To replace the gas lift, invert the chair and knock out the old lift with a rubber mallet. The wheels can be directly plugged in and replaced, and it is recommended to purchase silent universal wheels. If the leather seat surface is severely damaged, an elastic chair cover can be purchased online and directly wrapped around it.
IV. Assembly and Ventilation
- Function Debugging: After assembly, adjust the height adjustment and tilt functions to ensure that all parts are tightly connected and move smoothly.
- Ventilation and Drying: After renovation, ventilate and dry for more than 24 hours to ensure that the paint or glue smell has completely dissipated before use, avoiding inhalation of harmful gases.
Precautions: If the chair involves complex structures (such as gas lifts, swivel bases) or precious materials (such as solid wood, genuine leather), it is advisable to consult professional repair personnel first. Wear gloves and goggles during operation to avoid scratches or inhalation of dust.
