Painted Wooden Office Chair

Admin October 10, 2026

When painting wooden office chairs, you can choose the appropriate paint type according to different needs:

Choose water-based wood paint for environmental protection

Water-based wood paint is a good choice for environmental protection. It uses water as a diluent. Compared with traditional paints, it reduces the use of organic solvents, thereby lowering the emission of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). This type of paint dries within half an hour after application and has no pungent odor, making it very suitable for places with people who are more sensitive to the environment, such as those with children and pregnant women. However, the paint film hardness of water-based wood paint is relatively low. To achieve sufficient hardness, it needs to be applied two to three more times.

Choose wood wax oil to retain the wood grain

If you want to retain the original grain of the wood, wood wax oil is a good choice. Wood wax oil is like applying skin care oil to the chair. It can penetrate into the interior of the wood, nourish the wood, allowing users to feel the texture of the wood itself and fully display the natural grain and color of the wood. However, it should be noted that wood wax oil is not suitable for all types of boards and is not applicable to boards such as medium-density fiberboard. In addition, the durability of wood wax oil is relatively poor, and it needs to be reapplied every six months or so to maintain its protective and decorative effects on the wood.

Choose polyurethane paint (PU paint) for dining office chairs

For dining office chairs that need to be moved frequently, polyurethane paint (PU paint) is recommended. PU paint has excellent wear resistance, chemical corrosion resistance, and water resistance, just like putting a layer of armor on the chair, effectively protecting the chair's surface. In daily use, even if the chair is stained with coffee stains, oil stains, and other stains, it can be easily wiped off, facilitating cleaning and maintenance. However, when purchasing PU paint, pay attention to checking the test report and choose products with a formaldehyde content of less than or equal to 0.5% to ensure that its environmental performance meets the requirements.

In addition, beech wood can be used to make office chairs with black paint, providing an option for the material and color matching of office chairs.
