Origami Office Chair
Admin October 08, 2026
There are mainly two common folding methods for origami office chairs (small chairs):

Method One
Materials Preparation: Use a square piece of paper with a side length of 15 centimeters. Specific Steps:
- Initial Folding: First, fold the top and bottom edges of the paper in half, then fold the other two edges in half, and unfold it. At this point, there will be two intersecting creases on the paper. Fold the top and bottom edges towards the middle crease respectively.
- Backside Handling: Turn the paper over to the back. Fold the bottom edge up and the top edge down, folding about one-third of the way. Then fold down again. Place the top edge that was folded down on the back and fold it down to this edge.
- Side Handling: Next, fold the left and right sides inwards, folding about one-third of the way. Tuck one corner into the other corner and place it on the back.
- Shaping and Adjustment: Finally, open it up and adjust this part. Then a small chair is completed. This folding method is relatively simple. Through a series of folding and corner-tucking operations, it can be quickly shaped and is suitable for beginners to try.
Method Two
Materials Preparation: Similarly, prepare a square piece of paper measuring 15 by 15 centimeters. Specific Steps:
- Multiple Foldings: Fold the paper horizontally in half, align it neatly, and then unfold it. Continue to fold it in half along the middle crease just made, and then turn it over and fold the paper in half again on the other side.
- Three-Equal-Parts Folding: At the two-thirds position of the paper, fold the paper into three equal parts. Fold it slightly to create a crease and then fold it tighter.
- Further Folding: Continue to fold it once at the one-fourth position and then fold it back up. Fold the other side once to create many creases. Fold it up along the three-equal-parts crease, and fold the edges along the crease to form a small triangle and press it tight.
- Folding Back and Trimming: Fold the middle strip part over. Turn the paper over and fold a small triangle in the same way. Continue to fold the middle strip part over. Fold the excess edge parts and the top position down once, and a chair is folded. Finally, trim the edge parts. This method has relatively more steps, and the folding process is more detailed, requiring a certain amount of patience and hands-on ability. However, the finally shaped small chair has a more complex and delicate structure.
