Only Disassemble Office Chairs

Admin October 19, 2026

Disassembling office chairs can be done step - by - step from the whole to the parts. The specific steps are as follows:

Separate the Seat and the Backrest

First, find the connecting screws between the seat and the backrest. Usually, these screws are located at the joint position where the backrest meets the seat at the bottom. Use an appropriate screwdriver and operate accurately according to the screw specifications (such as cross - head or flat - head) to unscrew the fixing screws one by one. After completing this step, the seat and the backrest can be separated smoothly. However, for some chairs with an integrated backrest design, this disassembly step may not exist, and it needs to be judged according to the actual situation.

Remove the Armrests

The armrests are generally fixed to both sides of the seat with screws. Carefully search for the corresponding positions on both sides of the seat to determine the location of the screws, and then use a screwdriver to unscrew them. During the process of unscrewing, pay attention to applying an appropriate amount of force to avoid screw slippage or damage to the seat due to excessive force. Once all the fixing screws are unscrewed, the armrests can be easily removed.

Separate the Gas Lift and the Base

Turn the chair completely upside down so that the base is facing upwards. This way, you can clearly see the connection part between the gas lift and the base. In most cases, this part is fixed with either a snap - ring or screws. If it is fixed with a snap - ring, use an appropriate tool (such as snap - ring pliers) to release the snap - ring; if it is fixed with screws, use a screwdriver to unscrew the fixing screws. After completing the above operations, hold the gas lift and pull it out from the base. During the operation, pay attention to maintaining stability to prevent the gas lift from suddenly popping out and causing accidental injuries.

Remove the Casters

The casters are usually directly snapped onto the caster seats of the base. You can either pull them out with a relatively large force directly or use a screwdriver to gently pry the edges of the casters to separate them from the caster seats, thus removing the casters. If you encounter screws that are rusted and difficult to disassemble, you can appropriately spray some rust remover and wait for a while for the rust remover to take effect before carrying out the disassembly operation. During the disassembly process, pay attention to controlling the force to avoid damaging the parts due to excessive force, which may affect subsequent installation and use.
