Photos of Old Office Chairs

Admin October 09, 2026

Currently, there are no directly displayable photos of old office chairs, but their typical characteristics can be understood through textual descriptions.

Appearance Wear and Tear

  • Backrest: After prolonged use, the backrest may show signs of wear due to frequent leaning by the human body. For example, the chairs in the first conference room at the United Nations Headquarters in New York have backrests that are polished to a shine. This is because the constant friction between the human back and the backrest causes the surface material to gradually lose its original luster and texture, becoming smooth and shiny, reflecting the high frequency of use.
  • Armrests: Armrests are frequently touched parts of office chairs, and plastic-covered armrests are prone to peeling. During daily use, people repeatedly place their arms on the armrests, and factors such as friction and sweat erosion can cause the plastic layer to gradually age and peel off.
  • Chair Legs: If the office chair has wheels, the chair legs can cause wear on the carpet during movement. Just like the chairs in the first conference room, the carpet under the chair legs is gouged by the wheels. This is because the repeated rolling of the wheels on the carpet exerts continuous pressure and friction on the carpet fibers, forming deep grooves over time, which not only affects the appearance of the carpet but also reflects the frequent use of the chairs.

Structural Damage

  • Loose Seams: During long-term use, the seams between various components of an office chair may become loose due to frequent stress. For example, some chairs in the front row have their loose seams wrapped with tape, indicating that the connections at the seams are no longer secure and require temporary fixation with tape to ensure normal use of the chairs.
  • Paint Peeling: For office chairs with a painted surface, the paint layer may peel off due to collisions, friction, or other reasons during use. For instance, the peeling blue paint is particularly glaring. Paint peeling not only affects the aesthetic appearance of the chair but may also expose the internal materials of the chair, accelerating its aging and damage.
