Official Business Chair Standard

Admin October 19, 2026

The official business chair standard is primarily based on the relevant regulations of central administrative institutions, covering specifications, performance, configuration requirements, and other management norms, as detailed below:

I. Recommended Specifications and Performance
According to the 'Guidelines for Specifications and Performance of General Office Furniture in Central Administrative Institutions' issued by the National Government Offices Administration, specific recommendations are made for the specifications and performance indicators of office chairs, including appearance design and main dimensions, aiming to promote large-scale production and standardized configuration. In terms of performance, the guidelines stipulate the surface physical and chemical properties (such as wear resistance and corrosion resistance), mechanical properties (such as load-bearing capacity and stability), and environmental requirements (such as formaldehyde emission and material recyclability) of office chairs to ensure long-term effective use and reduce procurement frequency. These indicators provide technical references for procurement departments but are recommended standards, not mandatory.

II. Configuration Standards

  1. Position-based Configuration: Both department-level and deputy department-level positions can be equipped with 1 office chair + 1 desk chair; positions at or below the section level are only equipped with 1 office chair.
  2. Coordination with Office Space Area: The specifications of office chairs must match the office space area, with the quantity and price not exceeding the standards, emphasizing frugality.
  3. Minimum Service Life: The minimum service life of office chairs (including other office furniture) is 15 years, and they cannot be updated before reaching this age to avoid resource waste.

III. Other Management Requirements

  1. Prohibition of Large-scale Replacement: Departments must not replace existing office chairs on a large scale under the pretext of the issuance of the guidelines; furniture still in use should continue to be used.
  2. Priority for Reallocation: When configuring new office chairs, priority should be given to resolving the issue through reallocation from the public property warehouse of central administrative institutions to promote resource recycling.
  3. Strict Procurement Procedures: If procurement is necessary, a configuration plan must be formulated, standards must be followed, and approval procedures must be completed, with procurement carried out in accordance with the guidelines.
  4. Explanation of Indicator Nature: The specifications, parameters, and styles in the guidelines are recommended and not mandatory; specialized furniture for educational, medical, scientific research, and other institutions should follow their specific regulations.

The above standards combine technical specifications with management requirements, ensuring both the functionality and durability of office chairs while reinforcing resource conservation and administrative efficiency, applicable to general office scenarios in central administrative institutions.
