Office Wooden Chair

Admin October 08, 2026

Wooden office chairs combine practicality with aesthetics. When selecting one, attention should be paid to the type of wood, ergonomic design, stability, and load-bearing capacity, as well as maintenance during use.

1. Wood Type Directly Affects Durability and Cost Solid wood materials such as North American black walnut and oak are known for their hardness, beautiful grain, and excellent durability, but they come at a higher price, suitable for users who pursue quality. Rubberwood offers better cost-effectiveness, suitable for scenarios with a limited budget but requiring basic quality assurance. Avoid low-quality composite boards, which may contain a large amount of adhesive and are prone to cracking and deformation when exposed to moisture, and may release harmful substances.

2. Ergonomic Design Should Fit the Human Body The seat height is recommended to be controlled at around 45 centimeters, suitable for the height of most desks, to avoid leg suspension or compression during prolonged sitting. The backrest should have a slight incline of 5ยฐ-10ยฐ to fit the curve of the waist and reduce lumbar pressure. An 11-centimeter thickened sponge cushion is ideal, providing sufficient support while avoiding sinking of the buttocks due to excessive softness. If the seat surface is made of fabric or leather, choose breathable materials to prevent heat buildup in summer.

3. Stability and Load-Bearing Capacity Are Core to Safety For structure, prioritize four-legged designs or widened stretchers (horizontal support structures between chair legs) to distribute pressure and enhance stability. The load-bearing capacity should exceed 500 pounds to meet the weight needs of most people and avoid deformation of the chair after long-term use. In terms of connection techniques, mortise-and-tenon joints (traditional woodworking splicing methods) or metal reinforcements (such as screws and corner brackets) are more reliable and can reduce the risk of loosening.

4. Regular Maintenance Extends Service Life The wooden parts should be regularly (every 3-6 months) coated with wood wax oil to form a protective film and prevent cracking. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can cause the wood to fade and crack. Keep away from humid environments (such as near bathrooms) to prevent water absorption and swelling. Fabric seat surfaces should be vacuumed weekly or wiped with a damp cloth to remove stains. Leather seat surfaces should be cleaned with a dedicated cleaner and maintained monthly to prevent cracking. Some brands (such as Yuan Shi Mu Yu, Zhen Yuan) offer warranties of 1-3 years, which can be prioritized to reduce later maintenance costs.
