Office Staff Chair

Admin October 22, 2026

Staff chairs are one of the core types of office chairs, focusing on practicality and primarily meeting the basic sitting needs of employees in open office areas for their daily eight-hour work.

1. Design Features and Functional Positioning

The design of staff chairs aims primarily at lightweight breathability and cost control, commonly found at employee workstations in open office areas. Their structure typically adopts a low-backrest, armless design to save space and reduce manufacturing costs. However, some products, such as the Deli 4901S staff mesh chair, are equipped with fixed armrests and feature detachable installation of components like the backrest and seat through screws, balancing practicality and flexibility. In terms of basic functions, staff chairs are generally equipped with gas lift height adjustment, allowing users to adjust the seat height according to their height to ensure that their legs hang naturally and their feet rest flat on the ground, thereby maintaining a correct sitting posture.

2. Material Selection and Ergonomic Application

In terms of materials, staff chairs predominantly use mesh or PU materials. Among them, high-elasticity mesh is widely used in mid-to-high-end ergonomic swivel chairs due to its excellent breathability, heat dissipation, and ability to effectively disperse body pressure, and is gradually extending to staff chair designs. For example, some staff chairs reduce fatigue in the buttocks and back caused by prolonged sitting through the elastic support of the mesh, enhancing comfort. PU material, on the other hand, is characterized by its wear resistance and ease of cleaning, making it suitable for scenarios with limited budgets or high durability requirements.

3. Industry Classification and Market Position

From an industry classification perspective, staff chairs fall under the broad category of office chairs, along with executive chairs, conference chairs, etc., forming the seating system for office scenarios. Their positioning differs from executive chairs that emphasize luxury and conference chairs that focus on temporary comfort, instead focusing more on cost-effectiveness and large-scale application. According to statistics, China produced 177 million office chairs in 2024, with staff chairs being one of the main types, reflecting the stable market demand for basic office seating, especially in small and medium-sized enterprises and open office spaces where they dominate.

4. Applicable Scenarios and User Groups

The core users of staff chairs are ordinary employees, suitable for environments requiring prolonged sitting work, such as open office areas, call centers, and data entry positions. Their design provides basic support within limited space and budget by simplifying functions and controlling costs, meeting daily office needs. However, they typically do not have the complex adjustment functions of high-end ergonomic chairs (such as lumbar support, headrests, and multi-dimensional tilting).
