Disassembly of Office Mesh Chair

Admin October 09, 2026

Disassembling an office mesh chair requires attention to core components and structure. Following the steps can ensure efficient completion, as detailed below:

I. Preparation Before Disassembly

  1. Tool Preparation: Based on actual disassembly cases, prepare an Allen wrench (for removing most fixed screws) and a Phillips screwdriver (for some auxiliary components). Some special screws may require a wrench of the corresponding size.
  2. Environment Preparation: Choose a flat and spacious floor or tabletop to prevent parts from slipping and getting damaged during disassembly. If the chair has a gas lift, confirm in advance whether it has been depressurized (test by pressing the seat) to prevent sudden ejection during disassembly, which could be dangerous.

II. Disassembly Steps for Core Components

  1. Separating Headrest from Backrest: If the headrest is designed to be detachable, first check its connection method (usually snap-fit or screw-fixed). For snap-fit, simply pull it upward with force; for screw-fixed, loosen the screws with the corresponding screwdriver and remove. The backrest is usually connected to the base or gas lift with screws. Locate the fixed screws (mostly located beneath or on the side of the backrest) and remove them one by one.
  2. Removing Armrests: Armrests are mostly connected to the chair body with screws, although some high-end models may use a quick-release mechanism. For screw-fixed armrests, use a screwdriver to remove all connecting screws; for quick-release mechanisms, follow the instructions (such as pressing the snap-fit or sliding to unlock).
  3. Separating Seat Cushion from Base: The seat cushion is usually connected to the base with screws or snap-fits. For screw-fixed connections, remove the screws beneath the seat cushion; for snap-fit connections, lift the seat cushion upward with force (be careful not to damage the snap-fits).
  4. Separating Base from Gas Lift: The base is mostly connected to the gas lift with screws or rotating snap-fits. For screw-fixed connections, remove the screws beneath the base; for rotating snap-fits, rotate in the direction indicated in the instructions to unlock.
  5. Separating Gas Lift from Five-Star Base: The gas lift is usually connected to the five-star base with threads. Rotate the gas lift counterclockwise to remove it from the five-star base. If the connection is too tight, gently tap the bottom of the gas lift with a rubber mallet to loosen it.
  6. Removing Other Components: If additional components such as lumbar supports or footrests need to be removed, operate according to their connection methods (mostly screws or snap-fits).

III. Precautions

  1. Safety First: When disassembling the gas lift, be sure to confirm that it has been depressurized to avoid injury from high-pressure gas ejection. Protect your fingers during disassembly to avoid being cut by the screwdriver or parts.
  2. Record Screw Positions: During disassembly, classify and store screws by position and take photos with your phone to record the disassembly sequence for easier reassembly later.
  3. Handle with Care: Most parts of mesh chairs are made of plastic or metal. Avoid using excessive force during disassembly to prevent deformation or breakage.
