Office Computer Chair Dimensions

Admin October 09, 2026

The following are the common key dimensional parameters of office and computer chairs. People of different body sizes can choose according to their needs:

Seat width: It usually ranges from 40 to 55 centimeters, with 40 to 50 centimeters being more common. This dimension is designed to meet the needs of placing the buttocks while leaving appropriate space. If the seat is too narrow, the buttocks will be squeezed, and prolonged use can easily cause discomfort. If it is too wide, it may lead to the body swaying from side to side on the seat, affecting sitting stability. For tall people, it is recommended to choose a seat width close to 55 centimeters to provide more sufficient buttock support space; for petite people, 40 to 45 centimeters is sufficient.

Seat depth: The range is approximately 35 to 50 centimeters, with a common dimension of 40 to 45 centimeters. An appropriate seat depth should ensure that the buttocks are fully seated on the chair and the back of the knees is not compressed. If the seat is too shallow, the thighs will be in a suspended state and not fully supported. If it is too deep, it will put greater pressure on the spine, and long-term use may cause lower back discomfort.

Seat height: Most are between 40 and 50 centimeters. It is best to have an adjustable function, with an adjustment range generally between 38 and 48 centimeters. An adjustable seat height can meet the needs of people of different heights, allowing the feet to be placed flat on the ground and the thighs to be parallel to the ground, thus maintaining a correct sitting posture.

Backrest height: It usually ranges from 40 to 80 centimeters. Medium-height backrests generally do not exceed the waist position and are at a height between the waist and shoulders. The backrests of executive office chairs may be higher. Special models, such as chairs with pillows, can have a total height of up to 120 centimeters. The backrest height should be selected according to the usage scenario and personal needs. For long-term office work, a higher backrest can be chosen to provide better back support.

Backrest width: It is generally 40 to 50 centimeters, which can support the entire back, reduce back pressure, and maintain body balance.

Armrest height: It is generally between 22 and 28 centimeters. An appropriate armrest height allows the arms to be placed naturally, effectively relieving shoulder and arm fatigue.

In addition, it is best to maintain a height difference of 25 to 30 centimeters between the chair surface and the desktop so that the arms will not feel tired when placed naturally on the desktop.
