Office Chairs Without Wheels
Admin October 13, 2026
Office chairs without wheels are usually called fixed-leg ergonomic chairs or bow chairs. These chairs have unique advantages in specific scenarios, but they also have certain limitations.

Advantages
- High stability: The fixed-leg design completely solves the problem of the chair sliding randomly. Whether getting up, turning around, or sitting cross-legged, the chair remains absolutely still. This stability helps users quickly enter a focused state, especially suitable for users who need to engage in mental work for long periods, such as programmers and designers, as it reduces interference caused by chair wobbling.
- Floor protection: They can effectively protect wooden floors and tiles. The wheels of traditional office chairs can cause็ขพๅ (crushing) scratches on hard floors when moving and turning, while chairs without wheels avoid this problem. Moreover, they do not generate noise during operation, creating a quiet atmosphere in the office environment.
- Wide adaptability: The seat height supports multi-level adjustment, making it widely adaptable to family members of different heights. By adjusting the seat height, it can ensure that both feet are placed steadily on the ground, conforming to ergonomic principles, reducing leg pressure, and improving comfort.
- Space-saving: After removing the wheels, the overall volume of the chair is smaller, saving valuable indoor space. It is very suitable for narrow areas such as bedroom desks and small-sized study rooms, making space utilization more reasonable.
- Efficiency improvement: Some chairs without wheels adopt a no-armrest design, allowing both arms to move completely freely. Whether it is typing vigorously, writing or drawing at a desk, or reaching for drawers or picking up and placing items on the side, there is no obstruction from the armrests. This is suitable for work that requires a large range of arm movements, such as programming, design, and handwritten note-taking.
Limitations
- Inconvenient adjustment: When adjusting the seat position, one has to get up and move the chair, which is not as flexible and effort-saving as chairs with wheels. In situations where the seat position needs to be adjusted frequently, it can cause some inconvenience.
- Easy to scratch the floor: Directly dragging a wheel-less chair on the floor can easily scratch the surface of wooden floors or tiles. When using it, one should develop the habit of lifting and placing it gently, or consider adding protective pads to the chair legs to reduce damage to the floor.
Common Types
Common ergonomic chairs without wheels include bow chairs, most of which are mesh chairs and leather chairs, with a small number of cloth chairs. For example, the Xige computer chair can recline at a large angle of 160ยฐ and has a retractable footrest; the Sihoo M16 bow chair has an integrated frame for the backrest, and the lumbar support can be adjusted in 2D.
