Yellowing of Office Chairs
Admin October 17, 2026
The treatment for yellowing of office chairs should be selected according to the material, as follows:

I. Treatment by Material Type
- Plastic Material
When yellowing occurs due to long-term oxidation or dirt accumulation, the following methods can be used:
- White Vinegar + Warm Water: Mix the solution in a 1:1 ratio and wipe. For stubborn yellow stains, add baking soda to make a paste, apply it, and leave it for 10 minutes before wiping clean; or directly wipe with white vinegar diluted in warm water (1:2 ratio).
- Baking Soda Paste: Mix baking soda with warm water to form a paste, let it sit for 10-15 minutes, and then wipe clean.
- Leather Material
When yellowing occurs due to oil oxidation or stain residue, treatment should be carried out in steps:
- Cleaning Surface Dirt: Wipe the surface with a mild leather cleaner or diluted unscented body wash.
- Removing Yellow Stains: Gently wipe the yellow stains with a citric acid solution (1:5 ratio), and then wipe off any residue with a damp cloth.
- Restoring and Protecting: Apply a small amount of leather conditioner or care oil to restore shine and reduce future yellowing.
- Fabric Material
When yellowing occurs due to stain penetration and aging, local cleaning is required:
- Laundry Detergent/Color-Safe Bleach: Mix with warm water according to the instructions, gently brush the yellowed area with a soft-bristled brush, let it sit for 15 minutes, then wash normally and air-dry away from direct sunlight.
- Wooden Material with Coating
- Wooden Frame + Fabric Surface: Gently wipe with a damp cloth dampened with a small amount of mild detergent, then dry with a dry cloth to prevent mold and deformation.
- Solid Wood + Varnish Layer: For local yellowing, apply wood wax of the same color to remove yellowing and protect the surface layer.
II. General Yellowing Removal Methods (Applicable to Multiple Materials)
- Toothpaste Wiping: Use only once and gently to avoid damaging the surface.
- Furniture Cleaning Wax: Use cleaning wax containing soft abrasives to wipe once a month to remove the oxidized layer.
- Vaseline Application: Apply a small amount to fade yellow stains and form a protective film.
- Ash/Matchstick Light Brushing: Gently brush yellow stains with a soft brush dipped in ash or an unburned matchstick (operate gently).
- Daily Cleaning: Gently wipe with a damp cloth to keep clean, avoiding excessive moisture that may leave water stains.
III. Preventing Yellowing of White Gaming Chairs
Yellowing of white gaming chairs is common in PU leather material, caused by factors such as ultraviolet radiation, oxidation reactions, and sweat penetration. Daily prevention should follow the "Three Avoidances" principle:
- Avoid Direct Sunlight: Prolonged exposure accelerates oxidation and yellowing.
- Avoid High Temperature and Humidity: High temperatures accelerate material aging, and humidity promotes mold growth.
- Avoid Contact with Contaminants: Promptly clean sweat, oil stains, and other risks of penetration.
- Add Protective Layer: Add a dark cushion or a removable and washable chair cover to the PU leather chair surface.
