Office Chair Wrench

Admin October 09, 2026

The wrench equipped with an office chair is mainly used for adjusting seat functions and assisting in maintenance. The common types and uses are as follows:

Office chairs are usually equipped with two types of wrenches, each corresponding to different adjustment or maintenance needs. The first type is the wrench for adjusting seat functions, which is commonly found in pneumatic lift office chairs. These chairs typically have a cylindrical pneumatic rod at the bottom, with a short-handled wrench on the top or side. By pressing or rotating this wrench, the seat height can be adjusted to accommodate users of different heights. Some high-end office chairs also come with another wrench under the seat or on the armrest for adjusting the forward and backward tilt angle of the seat. Users can fix or release the seat's tilt locking mechanism by pulling this wrench, enabling dynamic adjustment of sitting posture and enhancing comfort.

The second type of wrench is mainly used for maintenance scenarios, especially for dealing with caster removal issues. When the casters of an office chair are difficult to remove due to long-term use or rust, tools are needed to assist in the removal. In this case, two Allen wrenches (whose sizes must match the gap between the wheel and the base) can be used. Insert them alternately into the connection gap between the wheel and the base. Then, secure the two wrenches with a cable tie or thin rope to form a lever structure. By rotating one of the wrenches, the removal torque can be increased, and the wheel can be gradually loosened with the help of a screwdriver and other tools. If the wheel is too tightly connected to the base, lubricant can be sprayed into the gap first, and then the removal operation can be carried out after it has penetrated, to improve efficiency and avoid damaging the components.

When using a wrench, safety and standardization should be noted: When adjusting seat functions, ensure that the wrench is operated properly to avoid accidental movement of the seat due to incomplete locking; during maintenance and removal, choose a wrench of the appropriate size to prevent slippage or damage caused by a mismatch between the tool and the component. If the wrench is lost or damaged, it is recommended to contact the office chair manufacturer to purchase original accessories or choose universal tools according to the model to ensure the normal realization of adjustment and maintenance functions.
