Office Chair Wood Board Production
The production of wood boards for office chairs involves five steps: basic frame construction, seat and backrest processing, chair leg and armrest assembly, base reinforcement, and overall optimization. The specific operations are as follows:

Basic Frame Construction
Select four square timbers of the same size (e.g., with a 4cmร4cm cross-section) and fix them into a square frame using wood glue and a pneumatic nail gun. Lay the frame horizontally as the main support structure for the chair, ensuring that the perpendicularity error at the four corners is less than 2mm. This step requires repeated calibration with a square ruler to prevent tilting during subsequent assembly.Seat and Backrest Processing
- Wood Board Cutting and Polishing: According to ergonomic design, cut six wood boards with a thickness of 2-3cm as the seat (each board is recommended to be 40cmร40cm in size). Use sandpaper (progressing from 80-grit to 240-grit) to remove burrs around the edges and polish the surface, ensuring a smooth and burr-free contact surface.
- Mortise-and-Tenon Joint Connection: Mark the positions of the mortises on the edges of the seat and backrest wood boards (with a depth of one-third of the board's thickness). Use a drill press or hand chisel to create the holes, apply eco-friendly wood glue, and then hammer in 8mm-diameter wooden dowels (tenons). Allow the glue to cure for 24 hours. This structure can withstand pressures of over 50kg and does not require metal fittings.
Chair Leg and Armrest Assembly
- Chair Leg Cutting: Cut the square timbers into trapezoidal or hexagonal chair legs (with a recommended bottom width of 8cm for enhanced stability). Pre-drill holes at the connection points with the armrests (with a diameter matching that of the wooden dowels).
- Reinforced Assembly: Apply glue to the contact surfaces of the chair legs and armrests, clamp them tightly with a woodworking clamp, and hammer in the wooden dowels. Some designs require inverting the chair legs and hammering them together with the armrests (e.g., using a dovetail joint structure). This step requires the use of a level to ensure the perpendicularity of the chair legs and prevent the chair from wobbling.
Base Reinforcement
Hammer two square timbers (slightly longer than the distance between the chair legs) into crossbars to form a square base. Fix the structures on both sides with nails and add triangular wooden blocks (with a thickness of 1.5cm) at the connection points between the chair legs and the base to enhance load-bearing capacity. This design can disperse pressure and prevent the chair legs from breaking.Overall Optimization
For higher durability, refer to the scheme for utilizing discarded wood boards: cut the offcuts into strips, connect them to the chair legs, and then lay the seat wood boards to form a double-layer structure. This method can improve stability by more than 20% and is especially suitable for scenarios that require frequent movement or high load-bearing capacity.
Precautions: Wear safety goggles and a dust mask during the production process to avoid inhaling wood dust. All dimensions should be adjusted according to actual needs, and it is recommended to draw a design diagram before construction.
