Issues with Wobbling Office Chairs
Wobbling in office chairs can be caused by issues with the hydraulic rod, loose screws, caster problems, material issues, or other circumstances, and requires targeted handling based on the specific cause.

If you feel that the connection between the seat and the base is particularly loose when sitting, the height adjustment is jerky, and there are black oil stains on the hydraulic rod, it is likely that the hydraulic rod is damaged due to air leakage from the seal ring. For office chairs that have been in use for more than five years, it is recommended to directly replace the hydraulic rod with a new one. Do not disassemble it yourself to prevent the risk of explosion.
Loose screws are also a common cause of office chair wobbling. You can squat down and carefully check the connections such as the five-star base and chassis, and use a screwdriver to tighten the loose screws one by one. For example, if the screw under the armrest is loose, it may cause the entire chair to wobble, and tightening it in a timely manner can solve the problem.
Caster problems should not be overlooked either. When hair or other debris gets tangled in the casters, or the casters are in a suspended state, the chair will wobble. In this case, you need to clean the debris from the casters to ensure they can roll normally, and place the chair so that the casters are evenly stressed to avoid suspension.
Material issues can also trigger office chair wobbling. If you weigh more than 100 kilograms or have purchased a relatively inexpensive, low-quality chair costing a couple of hundred yuan, its material may not be able to withstand the corresponding weight, leading to wobbling. In this case, it is recommended to replace the office chair with one of better quality and stronger load-bearing capacity.
In addition, there are some other situations that can cause office chairs to wobble. For wooden chairs, one leg may be shorter than the others, or the chair joints may be excessively worn, and changes in temperature and humidity may cause the screws to loosen, the wood glue to wear out, or parts to be damaged or missing. Methods to repair wobbling wooden chairs include installing furniture nails for fixation, inverting the chair and re-fixing the legs and applying glue, etc.
