Office Chair Without Springs

Admin October 16, 2026

Some office chairs are designed without springs, while others incorporate them.

Certain office chairs indeed lack spring mechanisms. Take the common office swivel chair as an example; it typically does not rely on hidden springs to function. Instead, it achieves support and comfort entirely through geometric principles and the inherent flexibility of the materials used. The seat and backrest of an office swivel chair are often made from materials with a degree of elasticity and resilience, such as high-density foam or mesh fabric. The structural design of its legs and base is also carefully considered, utilizing appropriate angles and connection methods to ensure stability when bearing the weight of a person while also allowing for adjustments in response to body movements, providing a comfortable sitting experience. This design not only simplifies the chair's structure and reduces production costs but also minimizes the noise and potential malfunctions associated with springs, enhancing the chair's reliability and lifespan.

However, not all office chairs eschew the use of springs. For instance, the Sihoo S300 ergonomic chair features a floating wing lumbar support with built-in springs. The application of springs in the lumbar support area is primarily aimed at enhancing support and conformity to the waist. When a person sits on the chair, the waist experiences a certain amount of pressure. The springs can automatically adjust the position and angle of the lumbar support according to changes in this pressure, ensuring that the lumbar support remains closely aligned with the curvature of the waist, providing more precise and personalized support. This design helps alleviate waist fatigue and prevent lumbar spine diseases, making it particularly suitable for office workers who sit for extended periods.

In addition to the lumbar support area, some high-end office chairs may also incorporate springs beneath the seat or inside the backrest to further enhance comfort and elasticity. These springs are typically made from high-quality materials and undergo rigorous testing and adjustments to ensure their elasticity and durability meet ergonomic requirements.
