Office Chair Without Height Adjustment

Admin October 14, 2026

If an office chair does not require a height adjustment function, you can directly choose a non-adjustable seat; if the height adjustment function of an existing office chair is damaged, it can be repaired or temporarily handled.

Choosing a Non-Adjustable Seat

If you do not need the height adjustment function of an office chair from the beginning, a non-adjustable seat is a suitable choice. These seats are commonly found in scenarios such as classroom chairs and training chairs, and are generally more suitable for use in large public settings. For example, in school classrooms and corporate training rooms, these places have certain requirements for the uniformity of seats and cost control, and non-adjustable seats can well meet these needs. Moreover, non-adjustable seats are relatively inexpensive, making them an economical choice for organizations or individuals with limited budgets who need to purchase a large number of seats.

Repairing a Damaged Height-Adjustable Office Chair

If an existing office chair originally had a height adjustment function but is now unable to function properly, it is likely that there is a problem with the air cylinder beneath the seat. The air cylinder controls the height adjustment by inflating and deflating, and its sealing at both ends relies on rubber seals. After a period of use, the rubber seals will age, resulting in poor sealing, and the seat will slide down, severely limiting you to sitting at the lowest position.

In response to this situation, there are two solutions. The first is to find a professional chair repair person to replace the air cylinder. This is a relatively professional and thorough repair method that can restore the normal height adjustment function of the office chair, but it may require some repair costs and time waiting for the repair person to come to your location or for you to send the chair to a repair shop. The second is to temporarily handle it when a repair person cannot be found. First, adjust the chair height to a comfortable position and make a mark on the cylinder. Then, disassemble the cylinder in a destructive manner and pad the space inside the cylinder's air chamber that should be occupied by air with a hard stick or similar object. This can fix the seat height to a certain extent and keep it at a comfortable position, but this method will damage the original structure of the seat and it will no longer be possible to restore the height adjustment function.
