Office Chair Without Cylinder

Admin October 12, 2026

If an office chair has no cylinder, it generally means it does not belong to the type of pneumatic lift chair, and its repair method needs to be judged based on the actual structure and problem. Here are some possible repair ideas and steps:

For office chairs without a cylinder but with similar adjustable structural components

Although there is no cylinder, some office chairs may have other adjustable structural components. The following methods can be referred to:

  • Using a hose clamp: If the chair has an adjustable cylindrical structural component similar to a cylinder, first slide the plastic skirt down from the cylinder and adjust the chair to a suitable height. Then, wrap the hose clamp around the cylindrical structural component, tighten the hose clamp to fix it, and finally test to see if the chair can remain stably at the desired height. However, this method is only applicable when the chair has an adjustable cylindrical structure and the fixation by the hose clamp can effectively prevent changes in the chair's height.
  • Using PVC pipes: Measure the diameter and length of the relevant cylinder on the chair and purchase a PVC pipe of the appropriate size. Saw the PVC pipe open to make it longitudinally split, and then fit it over the relevant component of the chair. This can increase friction to prevent the chair component from slipping, thereby stabilizing the chair's height to a certain extent. But again, this method is suitable for chairs with similar adjustable cylindrical structures.

  • Checking connection parts: Carefully inspect the connection parts between the various components of the chair, such as whether the screws are loose or the welds are cracked. For loose screws, use the appropriate tools to tighten them; for cracked welds, if the situation is not serious, you can try using strong adhesive for temporary fixation, but for long-term use, it is recommended to have a professional perform welding repair.
  • Replacing damaged components: If a certain component of the chair is damaged, causing it to sink, such as a damaged chair leg or a damaged seat support structure, you need to determine the model and specifications of the damaged component and purchase the corresponding replacement part for replacement. During the replacement process, ensure that the installation is correct and firm to guarantee the stability and safety of the chair.
