Office Chair with Wheels

Admin October 17, 2026

Office chairs can achieve the function of adding wheels in multiple ways.

I. Directly choose office chairs with built-in wheels Some office chairs have integrated wheel functions at the design stage, such as the Sihoo C300 Second Generation Lite Ergonomic Chair and the Sihoo B100Pro Ergonomic Chair with a sliding seat. These products typically use high-strength nylon or polyurethane wheels, which are wear-resistant, quiet, and smooth. The wheels are integrated with the chair leg structure to ensure stability during use. The wheel diameter is generally between 50-65mm, which can adapt to different floor materials such as carpets and wooden floors, and can also distribute pressure through a reasonable wheelbase layout to avoid ground damage caused by excessive local stress.

II. Add wheel accessories to ordinary office chairs If the existing office chair does not have wheel functionality, wheel accessories can be added to meet sliding needs. Common accessories include two types:

  1. External wheel kits: These are chair leg converters made of metal or engineering plastics, which are fixed to the bottom of the original chair legs with bolts and then equipped with wheels. For such accessories, it is important to ensure that they match the size of the original chair legs, for example, the diameter of the chair legs should be consistent with the inner diameter of the converter to ensure a secure installation.
  2. Detachable wheel sets: Some wheels are designed as independent modules and are connected to the chair legs with buckles or screws. Users can remove the original chair legs and replace them by themselves. The advantage of such accessories is easy installation, but it is necessary to confirm whether the material of the chair legs can withstand the load-bearing capacity of the wheel set (usually requiring support for more than 50kg).

III. Precautions for adding wheels

  1. Load-bearing matching: The load-bearing capacity of the wheels should match the total weight of the office chair and the user. For example, for a single-person office chair, it is recommended to choose wheels with a load-bearing capacity of โ‰ฅ100kg to avoid deformation or breakage after long-term use.
  2. Floor adaptability: If the office environment is carpeted, hard wheels with a larger wheel diameter (โ‰ฅ60mm) should be selected; for wooden or tiled floors, soft polyurethane wheels are more suitable to reduce scratches.
  3. Braking function: In some scenarios (such as workstations where the chair needs to be fixed), wheels with braking functions should be selected. These can be temporarily fixed by stepping or pressing to enhance safety.

Through the above methods, users can choose the most suitable wheel-adding solution according to their actual needs, balancing functionality and cost-effectiveness.
