Installation of Tray for Office Chair

Admin October 14, 2026

The method of installing a tray on an office chair varies depending on the model, and the corresponding installation steps should be selected according to the specific model. Here are the installation methods and precautions for some common models:

1. Installation Steps for the W258 Sponge Model
This model requires 4 medium-sized screws to fix the tray. First, turn the seat cushion over so that the back faces up. Align the installation holes of the tray with those of the seat cushion to ensure accurate positioning. Then, insert the 4 medium-sized screws into the holes one by one and tighten them gradually in a diagonal order using a wrench to avoid tray tilting or seat cushion deformation due to unilateral force. Key Point: The screw specifications must strictly match the “medium-sized screws”. Too thin screws may result in unstable fixation, while too thick ones may damage the installation holes.

2. Installation Steps for the 708 Model
This model requires 4 thin and short screws. Before installation, confirm whether the screw length is suitable for the spacing between the tray and the seat cushion. Screws that are too short may not fully penetrate for fixation, while those that are too long may pierce the surface of the seat cushion. After aligning the tray with the installation position on the seat cushion, use a screwdriver or electric tool to vertically screw in the 4 thin and short screws. Pay attention to applying even force to avoid screw slippage or indentation on the seat cushion surface due to excessive local force.

3. Installation Steps for the Top-of-the-Line Rocking Tray with Rocking Function
For this type of tray, turn the seat cushion over and install it after aligning it with the direction of the rocker. Use the second shortest screw along with a washer for fixation. The washer can increase the contact area, disperse the pressure, and prevent the screw from loosening. If it is a top-of-the-line rocking tray, the installation process is exactly the same as that of an ordinary seat cushion, but an additional check of the rocking function is required—gently shake the seat cushion after installation to confirm that the tray can rotate flexibly without any abnormal noise. Special Tip: The screw length must strictly be the “second shortest”. Too long screws may interfere with the movement of the rocking mechanism, while too short ones may not be able to fix the washer.

General Precautions:

  • Before installation, check the matching of screw specifications with the model to avoid structural damage caused by mixed use;
  • It is recommended to tighten the screws in a “diagonal alternating” manner to ensure balanced force application;
  • If there is a gap between the tray and the seat cushion, check whether the washer is missing or the screws are not fully screwed in;
  • After installation, test the function. For a rocking tray, confirm that it rotates smoothly, and for an ordinary tray, check its fixation stability.

The designs of trays for different models vary greatly. If the model is not clear, it is recommended to contact the manufacturer for a dedicated installation guide or video tutorial to avoid affecting the service life of the chair due to improper operation.
