Office Chair with Holes

Admin October 10, 2026

The design of office chairs with holes serves multiple purposes, including facilitating production and casting, enabling easy stacking and storage, promoting air circulation on the seat surface, facilitating manufacturer transportation, dispersing pressure, enabling easy handling, providing breathability and moisture resistance, reducing weight and costs, and offering decorative appeal.

In terms of production and casting, plastic chairs are often manufactured through injection molding. The holes reduce the contact area between the mold surface and the plastic, lowering the adhesion force and making it easier for plastic components to detach when the mold opens. Additionally, the holes act as vents to expel air from inside the mold, preventing air entrapment that could cause defects, improving the cooling process, and reducing internal stress and warping.

Easy stacking and storage are also significant advantages of hole design. When chairs are stacked, the holes allow air circulation, preventing the formation of a low-pressure zone due to air expulsion, which could create a vacuum effect and make it difficult to separate the chairs. Furthermore, the holes can be used to lift the chairs, facilitating handling.

Regarding air circulation on the seat surface, prolonged sitting can cause the buttocks to become hot and damp. Small circular holes promote heat dissipation and air circulation, enhancing seating comfort. Moreover, the holes prevent the formation of a sealed space between the seat surface and the body when someone sits down, avoiding summer heat and sweat accumulation, which could lead to mold growth on the seat surface over time.

During manufacturer transportation, the holes can accommodate steel pipes, saving space and facilitating loading and unloading. For chairs used in special scenarios, such as those on buses, the circular holes can slow down and disperse the pressure exerted by individuals of different weights when sitting down, extending the chair's lifespan.

Easy handling is another major advantage of hole design. Fingers can naturally fit into the holes, allowing for a more stable grip and easier lifting and carrying of the chairs compared to gripping the edge of the seat surface directly.

Furthermore, hole design reduces the chair's weight. During injection molding, it enables uniform cooling of plastic components, preventing shrinkage and deformation, significantly reducing material usage, and lowering production and transportation costs. In some designs, the arrangement of multiple holes can create unique patterns, adding a decorative touch.
