Bonsai Behind the Office Chair

Admin October 10, 2026

Placing a bonsai behind an office chair can be selected and arranged from three aspects: plant type, Feng Shui considerations, and placement tips.

Selection of Plant Types

  • Large-leaved plants: Such as money trees and monstera, these plants release more oxygen, block negative energy, and absorb bad luck. Their broad leaves also have the effect of attracting wealth. They can absorb formaldehyde and serve as natural screens, improving work mood, helping employees enhance concentration, and reducing stress hormone levels.
  • Spiky plants: Although they have the effect of dispelling negative energy, they can easily damage relationships with colleagues and should be chosen with caution.
  • Plants with specific benefits: Tiger aloe enhances personal financial luck; pothos can subtly double financial luck; succulents combined with rockeries and stones can enhance financial luck and potentially promote career development; spider plants can improve partial financial luck while absorbing formaldehyde, decomposing benzene and nicotine; and asparagus fern can enhance control over financial luck and optimize the layout of fortune.

Feng Shui Considerations

  • Having a backer behind the seat: Having a backer behind the seat is beneficial for career development. In an office, the backer is usually a wall. The seat should be as close to the wall as possible, and there should not be too much space between the wall and the seat. This layout enhances a sense of security.
  • Fresh flower placement: Among plants, fresh flowers have a strong Feng Shui effect. Different colored flowers can be placed according to the five elements attributes of different directions to enhance luck. However, artificial flowers should never be used in office Feng Shui layouts as they symbolize death and decline.

Placement Tips
The placement of the bonsai should be reasonable. Do not block the aisle to avoid affecting passage. The bonsai should be kept more than 30 centimeters away from the chair, and its height should preferably be similar to that of the chair back. This can not only serve as a screen but also prevent a feeling of oppression, creating a comfortable work environment.
