Office Chair Wheels and Casters

Admin October 08, 2026

Office chair wheels, also known as casters, are a core component of office chairs, featuring various technical characteristics and suitable for multiple scenarios.

Material and Characteristics

Different materials of casters have distinct characteristics and are suitable for different floor environments. PU-rimmed casters are made of soft rubber, which is relatively soft and does not scratch the floor, making them particularly suitable for use on delicate surfaces such as painted wooden floors. On the other hand, carpet casters are generally made of nylon, which is relatively hard and rolls better on carpets, facilitating the movement of office chairs in carpeted office areas.

Silent Design

Traditional casters, when installed, leave a certain gap when inserted into the holes. When the chair moves, the collision between the casters and the metal rod generates noise. To address this issue, some casters have been improved by adding a nylon plastic sleeve on top. When the caster comes into contact with the metal rod, the buffering effect of the nylon plastic sleeve reduces direct metal-to-metal collision, significantly reducing noise. Pushing the chair around generates almost no squeaking sounds, providing a quieter office environment.

Testing Equipment

To ensure the quality and performance of office chair casters meet requirements, specialized office chair caster life testing machines are used. These machines can simulate scenarios where the chair slides on both obstructed and unobstructed floors, detecting issues such as wear, jamming, and wheel detachment through prolonged simulated use. Only casters that pass rigorous testing and meet office chair testing standards can be introduced to the market, ensuring consumer experience and safety.

Industry Overview

The office chair caster market is substantial, with the top three companies in the industry achieving annual revenues of up to 300 million yuan, indicating high commercial value and development potential. Additionally, some products hold patents, reflecting the industry's investment in technological innovation and achievements, driving continuous progress and development in office chair caster technology.
