Office Chair Wheel Welding

Admin October 12, 2026

The broken weld points of office chair wheels can be repaired by welding or replaced with new wheels. Here are the specific operation methods:

Welding Repair

  • Prepare Tools: You need to prepare tools such as a welding torch, welding wire, pliers, and a wrench. The welding torch is the core equipment for welding operations, melting the welding wire through high temperatures; the welding wire is the material used to fill the weld points; pliers are used to clean up debris around the weld points; and a wrench is used to disassemble and install the wheels.
  • Disassemble the Wheels: Use a wrench to remove the office chair wheels. During the disassembly process, pay attention to applying an appropriate amount of force to avoid damaging other components of the office chair. If the connection between the wheels and the chair is relatively tight, you can use some lubricant appropriately to facilitate disassembly.
  • Clean the Weld Points: Use pliers to carefully clean up dust and debris around the weld points. These impurities can affect the quality of the welding, resulting in unstable weld points. Ensure that the area around the weld points is clean and flat during cleaning to prepare for subsequent welding operations.
  • Welding Operation: Use a welding torch to weld the weld points. Aim the welding torch at the weld points, adjust the appropriate temperature and welding speed, and evenly apply the melted welding wire to the weld points. During the welding process, pay attention to keeping the welding torch stable to avoid problems such as false welding and missed welding.
  • Install the Wheels: After the weld points have cooled down, use a wrench to reinstall the wheels in their original positions. Ensure that the connection between the wheels and the chair is firm and that the wheels rotate flexibly during installation. You can gently rotate the wheels to check for any stuttering or looseness.
  • Inspection and Testing: Test whether the wheels can rotate normally and check if the weld points are firm. You can sit on the office chair and move it back and forth, left and right, to feel whether the wheels rotate smoothly. At the same time, carefully observe whether there are any cracks or signs of looseness at the weld points.

Replace with New Wheels

If you do not want to perform welding operations, you can also remove all the casters and purchase new casters of the same model online for reinstallation. When purchasing new wheels, ensure that the model is the same as the original wheels to ensure installation compatibility. When installing new wheels, follow the reverse order of disassembly for operation.
