Office Chair Wheel Tools

Admin October 09, 2026

The tools and operation methods related to office chair wheels can be divided into three categories: disassembly, cleaning, and installation, as detailed below:

I. Disassembly Tools and Methods

  1. Screw-fixed Wheels: If the wheels are secured with hexagonal screws, use a wrench or screwdriver of the corresponding size to loosen the screws and remove the wheels. Ensure the screwdriver remains perpendicular to the screw slot to prevent slipping.
  2. Pin-type Wheels:
    • Direct Pull: Grasp both sides of the wheel with both hands and pull straight upward (suitable for cases without clips or with minimal resistance).
    • Assisted Tools: If resistance is high, insert a flat-head screwdriver into the gap between the wheel and the bracket, gently pry to loosen, and then pull out; or use pliers to grip the pin and tap the top of the wheel lightly with a hammer to reduce friction through vibration.

II. Cleaning Tools and Methods

  1. Hair Entanglement Removal: Use small scissors to cut along the axis of the wheel to remove entangled hair one by one, avoiding direct pulling that could cause the wheel to jam or damage the bearings.
  2. Surface Dirt Cleaning: Wet a facial cloth, wring it out until it no longer drips, wrap it around the wheel surface, and wipe repeatedly to remove dust or grease; for stubborn stains, use a damp cloth with a small amount of neutral detergent to assist in cleaning, then dry with a dry cloth to prevent rust.
  3. Adhesive Residue Removal: If there is adhesive residue on the wheel surface or floor, use invisible tape to stick to the residue and peel it off using the tape's adhesiveness, avoiding scratches from sharp tools.

III. Installation Tools and Methods

  1. Pin-type Wheel Installation: Align the wheel pin with the bracket hole, press straight down until you hear a 'click' (some wheels may require firm pressing to ensure the clip locks); if pressing is difficult, use a rubber mallet to tap the top of the wheel lightly to assist in installation, avoiding direct use of a metal hammer that could deform the wheel.
  2. Screw-fixed Wheel Installation: Align the wheel with the bracket hole, then tighten the screw with a wrench or screwdriver, ensuring the screw is fully embedded and the wheel rotates smoothly without looseness or jamming.

Precautions:

  • When replacing wheels, choose products that match the original wheel's size and type (e.g., swivel wheels, wheels with brakes) to avoid installation failure or abnormal use due to incompatible specifications.
  • Before cleaning or disassembly, it is recommended to invert the office chair and secure the wheel direction to facilitate operation and prevent the chair from tipping over.
