Office Chair Wheel Socket
There are mainly three types of office chair wheel sockets: snap-on (plug-and-pull), threaded, and quick-release snap-on, each with different installation methods.
Most office chair casters use a "snap-on" or "plug-and-pull" design, requiring no screws for fixation. This design is relatively simple to install, but it is essential to ensure that the caster matches the hole on the chair base. During installation, align the caster's pin with the hole, press vertically with force, and listen for a "click" sound or feel the pin fully embedded, indicating that it is properly installed. For example, the Heibai Tiao children's chair G502MMA requires inserting the caster into the hole on the back of the footrest; the 886 chair and Changlu 213 computer chair require inserting the caster into the hole at the bottom of the five-star base. The advantage of this installation method is its ease of operation without the need for tools, making it suitable for most ordinary office chairs.
If the socket is threaded, the installation method differs, requiring rotation to screw it on. During installation, first align the caster's threaded rod with the pre-drilled hole at the bottom of the chair leg, and slowly rotate it in the direction of the thread. Do not forcefully insert or twist it, as this may cause the thread to slip, affecting the installation effect and service life. If the hole does not have built-in threads, use the provided self-tapping screw to create threads before inserting the caster. This installation method is relatively more complex, requiring patience and care, but it provides a more secure fit and is suitable for office chairs with higher stability requirements.
Some gaming chairs or high-end office chairs use a quick-release snap-on design for their casters, also requiring no screws. During installation, simply align the caster with the hole and press to snap it in place, listening for the click sound to confirm proper installation. This design not only facilitates easy installation but also makes it convenient to replace or clean the wheels when needed, greatly enhancing usability.
