Office Chair Wheel Removal
There are mainly four methods for removing the wheels of an office chair: direct pulling, rotational pulling, using tools for assistance, and permanent fixation after complete removal. The specific operations are as follows:

Most office chair wheels are installed using a snap-fit mechanism, which is the most common method of fixation. Direct pulling is a relatively simple and straightforward approach. First, flip the office chair over so that the wheels are facing upwards. Use your foot to press down on the edge of the chair base to keep the chair stable and prevent it from moving during the pulling process. Then, grasp the casters with both hands and pull vertically upwards. If you encounter significant resistance during the pulling, you can gently shake the casters from side to side to assist in applying force. This helps loosen the snap-fit and makes it easier to remove the wheels.
Some office chair casters have an internal threaded structure. In such cases, you cannot simply use the direct pulling method. You need to perform rotational pulling first. That is, rotate the casters counterclockwise by 90 degrees to unlock the threads, and then remove the wheels following the same steps as direct pulling. When rotating, be sure to apply an appropriate amount of force to avoid damaging the threaded structure due to excessive force.
When the casters are extremely stubborn and difficult to remove using the above methods, you will need to use tools for assistance. You can spray WD-40 lubricant onto the seam between the wheels and the chair base, and then let it sit for 15 minutes to allow the lubricant to fully penetrate and provide lubrication, reducing the difficulty of removal. If you encounter severe rust on the metal snap-fits, you can use a rubber mallet to gently tap around the connection area to loosen the snap-fits. It is important to note that you should never forcefully pry with metal tools, as this may damage the chair base or the wheels, rendering them unusable.
If you want to permanently fix the chair after removing the wheels and no longer use them, you can adopt the method of permanent fixation after complete removal. After completely removing the wheels, seal the wheel axle interface with 502 glue to achieve permanent fixation. However, be aware that after using 502 glue for fixation, you need to maintain a curing period of 24 hours to ensure that the glue is fully cured, allowing the chair to bear sufficient weight and ensuring safe use.
