Office Chair Wheel Removal
The methods for removing office chair wheels vary depending on the type of wheel structure. Here are the specific steps:

1. Removing Snap-On Wheels
Snap-on wheels are secured to the frame with elastic clips. Before removal, ensure the operating environment is safe. Flip the office chair upside down so the seat faces downward. Use a soft cloth or foam pad to protect the seat fabric from scratches or indentations. Grasp both sides of the wheel frame with your hands and pull outward evenly to remove the wheel. If the clips are tight due to long-term use, you can use a tool for assistance: Take a flat-head screwdriver and wrap the tip with a soft cloth. Insert the tip of the screwdriver into the gap between the clip and the frame, gently pry the edge of the clip, and use leverage to loosen the clip before pulling out the wheel. Control the force during operation to avoid deforming the frame or breaking the clips.
2. Removing Spring Clip Rod Wheels
Spring clip rod wheels are fixed with metal spring clips and require a special tool for removal. Prepare a flat-head screwdriver or a special pry bar. Insert the tip of the tool into the connection between the spring clip and the rod, pry outward forcefully to detach the spring clip from the rod. This process requires significant strength. If female users find it difficult, it is advisable to seek assistance from others. Pay attention to the direction of the tool when prying to avoid slipping and scratching your hands or damaging the frame. After removal, check if the spring clip is deformed. If it is, replace it with a new one to ensure stability during reinstallation.
3. Removing Threaded Wheels
Threaded wheels are fixed to the frame by rotation and require a small wrench for operation. Select a small wrench that matches the diameter of the thread, grip the nut at the bottom of the wheel, and rotate it counterclockwise (to the left) to gradually loosen the threaded connection. If the thread is rusted or tight, apply a small amount of lubricating oil to the contact area between the nut and the wrench and wait 5-10 minutes before attempting to rotate it again. Keep the wrench perpendicular to the nut during removal to avoid stripping the thread. Once fully loosened, grasp the wheel with your hand and pull it upward to remove it.
Precautions:
- Wear protective gloves before removal to avoid cuts from metal parts.
- Keep the office chair stable during operation to prevent tipping and accidents.
- Store the removed parts separately after removal to avoid losing small parts such as clips and spring clips.
- If the wheels are severely damaged, it is recommended to replace them with new wheels of the same model to ensure compatibility.
