Noise from Office Chair Wheels
Noise from office chair wheels can be caused by foreign object entanglement, lack of lubrication in bearings, material aging, or installation issues, and can be resolved through cleaning, lubrication, tightening, or wheel replacement.

Foreign Object Entanglement and Dust Accumulation
Hair and fiber threads on the floor can easily become entangled around the wheel axle, while dust and sand particles getting stuck in the bearing gaps can cause rolling stutter and friction noise. Solution: If tightly entangled, the wheel needs to be disassembled (use a flat-head screwdriver to pry the small wheel off the bracket), clean the foreign objects from the central axle, and then press it back into place; if entangled on the surface, use small tweezers or a hook to remove them, or rub a plastic pen against a cloth to generate static electricity to attract the hair. After cleaning, rotate the wheel to test if it rolls smoothly again.Lack of Lubrication in Bearings
After prolonged use, the ball bearings inside the wheels may have their lubricating oil dried up or contaminated by dust, leading to dry friction between metal parts and emitting a 'squeaking' sound. Solution: Use a clean cloth to dip a small amount of sewing machine oil, light mechanical lubricating oil, or special maintenance oil, and apply it to the gaps between the wheel axle and bearings. Rotate the wheel to evenly distribute the oil, and finally wipe off any excess oil stains. Before lubrication, clean the dust from the wheel axle to prevent oil contamination mixed with impurities from exacerbating wear.Aging or Low-Quality Wheel Material
Cheap hard plastic wheels or aged, hardened rubber wheels can easily produce noise when rolling on hard floors (such as tiles or wooden floors), and loose wheel structures can also cause abnormal sounds. Solution: Check the wear condition of the wheels. If the surface is cracked, deformed, or does not roll smoothly, purchase new wheels that are compatible with the chair (common interface sizes are 11mm, 12mm, 15mm) and of good quality for replacement. Prioritize silent rubber wheels or universal wheels with bearings, which can significantly reduce noise.Mismatched or Loose Installation
If the wheel installation interface size does not match the chair leg base, or if the installation is not in place, it can cause shaking and impact sounds during rolling; wear at the connection between the gas lift and the five-star base can create gaps, leading to friction noise due to body movement. Solution: Turn the chair upside down, check if the connection between the five-star base and the wheels is loose, press to confirm, and then tighten the axle screws; if the axle is damaged, replace the component. For gas lift wear, apply lubricating oil at the contact position or install shock-absorbing gaskets; if the gap is too large, replace the gas lift.
