Office Chair Wheel Locking

Admin October 12, 2026

Several methods can be used for locking the wheels of an office chair:

Using Chair Fixed Feet: Chair fixed feet are specialized accessories designed to secure office chairs firmly in place. After installation, the chair remains stable and does not move randomly. However, a notable drawback is that moving the chair becomes inconvenient, as the fixed feet need to be removed first. This method is more suitable for individuals who require extremely high stability, such as those performing tasks that demand intense focus and steady operation, like precision instrument handling or painting.

Choosing Wheels with Brake Function: Wheels equipped with a brake function offer convenience for locking office chairs. These wheels can be locked when needed to keep the chair stationary, and unlocked for easy movement when required. However, the process of locking or unlocking all five wheels simultaneously can be somewhat cumbersome. There are various styles of such wheels, such as those with a diameter of 60 millimeters, featuring a silent sleeve and wrapped in soft PU on the outside, which can be locked by simply pressing them down; and bearings-hollowed wheels, with a bearing in the middle, offering good texture and weight, also wrapped in soft PU on the outside, and can be locked by pressing a button.

Using Gravity Self-Locking Wheels: Gravity self-locking wheels ingeniously utilize the principle of gravity. When a person sits on the chair, the wheels automatically lock, preventing the chair from moving; when the person stands up, the wheels automatically unlock, restoring the chair's mobility. This makes them both convenient and practical. For example, some gravity wheels have a mechanism inside that increases lateral resistance when subjected to gravity, making movement more strenuous while producing less noise.

Using Chair Wheel Fixers: Chair wheel fixers come in various styles, such as PVC soft-bottomed and nylon felt-bottomed options. They are very easy to install, requiring only a simple snap-on action. Once installed, they effectively prevent the wheels from moving randomly and also protect the floor from scratches during chair movement, making them a practical choice for locking office chair wheels.
