Office Chair Wheel Installation
The installation of office chair wheels needs to be handled differently according to the wheel type and installation method. The specific steps are as follows:

1. Component Verification and Basic Preparation
After receiving the new wheels, first verify the completeness of the components to ensure they include five wheels and matching tools (such as wrenches, engine oil, etc.). If replacing damaged wheels, observe the fixing method of the original wheels in advance: ordinary threaded wheels require a wrench, while push-in wheels require engine oil as a lubricant. The diameter size of the new wheels must be exactly the same as that of the original wheels, and the hardness type of the casters (such as hard plastic, soft rubber) must match the original wheels; otherwise, it may affect the stability of the chair or damage the floor.
2. Replacement Steps for Threaded Wheels
For wheels fixed by threads (common on metal chair legs), use a wrench to rotate counterclockwise to unscrew the damaged wheels. If the wheels are difficult to remove due to rust or deformation, spray a small amount of lubricant (such as WD-40) to help loosen them. When installing new wheels, align the center hole of the wheel with the thread on the chair leg and rotate clockwise until fully tightened. Avoid applying excessive force to prevent thread slippage. After installation, check that the wheels rotate smoothly without any jamming or abnormal noise.
3. Installation Techniques for Push-in Wheels
Push-in wheels are fixed by light pressure and are common on plastic or nylon chair legs. Before installation, apply 2-3 drops of engine oil to the surface of the metal pin to reduce friction. Align the center hole of the wheel with the insertion hole on the chair leg and press down vertically until fully embedded. A clicking sound or a sudden decrease in resistance indicates that the installation is complete. If insertion is difficult, slightly rotate the wheel to adjust the angle. Do not forcefully strike it, as this may damage the chair leg or the wheel.
4. Process for Pre-installing Wheels on a Five-star Base
Some office chairs require assembling the five-star base (chair leg bracket) first, and then installing the wheels onto the five-star base. The specific steps are as follows: Place the five-star base flat on the ground, align the five wheels with the five insertion holes on the five-star base, and press down vertically until the wheel latches lock. Maintain balance of the five-star base during installation to avoid misalignment of the wheels due to unilateral force. After installation, push the chair to test whether the wheels rotate synchronously and ensure there is no looseness or deviation.
Precautions:
- Wear gloves during installation to avoid scratches from metal components.
- If the chair leg is made of wood or is easily scratched, place a soft cloth between the wheel and the chair leg.
- Before first use after installation, it is recommended to lift the chair 10 centimeters off the ground to check that all wheels are evenly loaded.
