Office Chair Wheels Falling Off
Admin October 09, 2026
The falling off of office chair wheels (casters) may be caused by improper use and maintenance or product quality issues. The specific reasons are as follows:

Improper Use, Maintenance, and Storage
- Abnormal Wear or Impact: If consumers drag the chair with excessive force or frequently move it on uneven or overly rough surfaces, the wheels will be subjected to abnormal friction and impact. For example, moving an office chair on a gravel road or uneven surface can cause violent collisions between the wheels and the ground, potentially leading to loosening or even detachment.
- Impact of Harsh Environments: Prolonged exposure of the chair to humid or high-temperature environments can cause the wheel components to rust or age. Humid environments can oxidize metal parts, while high temperatures may accelerate the aging of plastic parts, reducing the structural strength of the wheels and thereby increasing the risk of falling off.
Product Quality Issues
- Design Flaws: If the installation structure of the wheels is poorly designed, they may easily loosen and fall off during normal use. For example, if the size of the mounting hole does not match the wheel axle or if the installation structure lacks effective fixing devices, the wheels may gradually loosen during use.
- Manufacturing Defects: Wheels may have defects during the manufacturing process, such as insufficient material strength or poor welding. If the material strength of the wheels is insufficient, they may be damaged and fall off under normal pressure; poor welding can cause the connection between the wheels and the chair to break easily.
- Material Quality Problems: Using low-quality or unqualified materials to make the wheels can reduce their durability and stability. For example, wheels made of inferior plastic may deform or break after prolonged use, leading to falling off.
Other Factors
- Overloading: If the weight borne by the chair exceeds the designed load capacity of the casters, they will be subjected to excessive pressure, leading to detachment.
- Ground Friction: Frequent use on uneven surfaces or in environments with intense friction can cause the casters to wear out more quickly, increasing the risk of falling off.
- Improper Installation: If the casters are not properly fixed during installation, they may loosen during use and subsequently fall off.
