Office Chair Wheel Damage
The repair method for damaged office chair wheels depends on the specific damage situation. Common situations and repair steps are as follows:

Wheel Wear
If the wear is minor, the wheels can continue to be used temporarily, but regular inspections of the wear condition are necessary to avoid risks due to excessive wear. If the wear seriously affects usage, new wheels need to be replaced. When purchasing new wheels, ensure that the size matches. They can be bought at furniture stores, hardware stores, or online shopping platforms. You can also contact the chair manufacturer to provide the model number to order matching wheel feet, or remove one of the old wheels and take it to an office supplies store to find a matching replacement set. Pay special attention to matching the shape and size of the wheel axle. When replacing, first turn the chair upside down and locate the screws or clips that secure the wheels. If secured by screws, use an appropriate screwdriver to unscrew them, remove the old wheels, install the new ones, and then tighten the screws. If connected by clips, simply pry open the clips to remove the old wheels and ensure the new ones are properly clipped in place for a secure fit.
Wheel Deformation
Wheel deformation usually cannot be repaired and requires replacement with new wheels. When replacing, also pay attention to choosing wheels of the appropriate size to ensure they fit the chair. The operation steps are the same as those for replacing worn wheels. First, turn the chair upside down, remove the old wheels according to the connection method (screw-fixed or clip-connected), and then install and secure the new wheels.
Loose or Damaged Connection Parts
If the screws are loose, simply tighten them with the appropriate tool. If the connecting part is broken, find a suitable material, such as a piece of wood or metal plate with similar thickness and material, to make a new connecting part. First, fix it with glue, and then reinforce it with iron wire or thin metal strips to ensure a firm connection between the wheels and the chair.
General Operation Steps for Replacing Wheels:
- Turn the chair upside down so that the side with the damaged wheels is facing up, making it easier to operate and see the connection parts.
- Check the connection method and remove the old wheels according to the above steps.
- Install the new wheels and ensure a secure connection. You can apply a small amount of spray lubricant (such as WD - 40) to each chair base socket, or apply a pea-sized amount of Vaseline to the new wheel axles. Use a rubber mallet to tap the casters into the sockets, ensuring the rods are fully inserted into the bases.
- After installing one wheel, upright the chair and check if the wheel is properly installed and rotates smoothly. Then, replace the other wheels one by one. Finally, turn the chair upside down for testing. If it rolls smoothly and evenly without tilting to one side, the replacement is successful.
