Office Chair Wheel Cleaning

Admin October 19, 2026

There are various methods for cleaning office chair wheels, and you can choose the appropriate one based on the degree of dirt and the condition of the wheels.

Daily Simple Cleaning

This is suitable for doing once a week. Take an old toothbrush that is no longer in use, dip it in a diluted dishwashing detergent solution, and focus on scrubbing the dust and hair in the gaps where the wheels connect to the chair seat. These areas are prone to accumulating dirt and are difficult to clean on a daily basis. Using a toothbrush can effectively clean deep into the gaps. After scrubbing, use a wrung-out damp cloth to wipe the surface of the wheels clean, removing any remaining dishwashing detergent and dirt.

Deep Dirt Cleaning

  • Disassembly Cleaning: Turn the office chair upside down and carefully use a screwdriver to pry open the wheel clips and remove the wheels. Soak the wheels in warm water with a small amount of laundry detergent for 5 minutes to soften the dirt. Then use an old toothbrush to scrub the dirt in the gaps. For stubborn stains, you can increase the scrubbing force appropriately. Rinse them clean with water and let them dry. When reinstalling, make sure the clips are securely fastened to prevent the wheels from becoming loose and affecting use.
  • Direct Cleaning: Use a brush and a neutral cleaning agent to remove debris from the wheel surface and axle. Brush back and forth along the gaps of the wheels. Use a discarded membership card to slowly pick out hair and small debris stuck inside. Use a brush dipped in the cleaning agent to brush along the axle gaps while slowly rotating the wheels to ensure every part is cleaned. After brushing, use a dry towel to wipe off the water stains on the surface.

Internal Wheel Cleaning

First, use your fingers to remove visible debris and remove any small objects, stickers, or larger fragments that can be easily removed by hand. For stuck fragments, you can use tools such as scissors, nail clippers, bottle cap cutters, and screwdrivers to help remove them. You can also use duct tape to remove small fragments. Finally, use a vacuum cleaner to suck up the fine dust or fragments that the tape cannot pick up.

Post-Cleaning Treatment

Thoroughly dry the wheels. You can use a cloth to dry them or let them air-dry for a while. For small areas that the cloth cannot reach, use a cotton swab to dry them. Apply some WD-40 to the wheels and make sure it is completely dry to prevent rot. After cleaning, you canๆปด (should be 'drip') one or two drops of lubricating oil on the wheel axles to reduce friction noise during rotation and extend the service life of the wheels, but be careful not to over-drip.
