Office Chair Wheels and Leather Materials

Admin October 12, 2026

The wheels and leather materials of office chairs are two different components, each with distinct material characteristics.

Wheel Materials and Characteristics

Common materials for office chair wheels include PA, nylon, and PU. Taking the ฯ†60MM black PU wheel as an example, it is made of polyurethane material, which offers numerous advantages. When rolling on hard floors, it generates less noise compared to traditional nylon wheels, creating a relatively quiet working environment for users. Additionally, it is less likely to scratch the floor, which is crucial for preserving the integrity of the flooring, especially for expensive flooring materials. Furthermore, PU material provides some elastic cushioning, effectively reducing vibration transmission during chair movement and enhancing user comfort. Besides PU wheels, there are also other types such as 3-inch universal white nylon casters. Nylon wheels have their own characteristics, such as good wear resistance, and can be selected based on different usage scenarios and needs.

Leather Materials and Characteristics

Common leather materials for office chairs include genuine leather and PU leather (artificial leather). Genuine leather executive chairs are usually more expensive because genuine leather is sourced from natural animal hides, and its manufacturing process is relatively complex, resulting in higher costs. However, genuine leather offers excellent breathability, preventing users from feeling hot and uncomfortable during prolonged sitting. Nevertheless, the color options for genuine leather are relatively limited, primarily constrained by the dyeing characteristics of natural hides. PU leather, on the other hand, is often used in the production of some leather-style office chairs, such as executive and mid-back chairs. PU leather is a type of artificial leather that can mimic the appearance and texture of genuine leather while offering the advantage of lower cost, meeting the price demands of more consumers.

Cleaning Methods for Leather Office Chairs

Leather-style office chairs require regular cleaning and maintenance during daily use. In general, wiping with a clean, soft cloth is sufficient to keep them clean. For stubborn stains, a neutral detergent diluted with warm water (1%โ€“3%) can be used for initial wiping, followed by wiping with a damp cloth to remove the cleaning solution. This method effectively removes stains while avoiding damage to the leather.
